Charmaine Sherine Isaac

Hello! My name is Charmaine, and i have worked in childcare for over 24 years. Previously working in schools and nurseries before taking the decision to become a childminder 5 years ago.
Most resources are made with natural materials and are at the children's height, so they can freely pick and choose and add to their play.
Weekly we attend playgroups, parks and libraries. We also go on bike rides and walks through the forest.
I very much follow the children's interest so we may also have a cooking session, or jump in muddy puddles (Paddle suits provided)

I have a passion for working with children and also a sound knowledge of childcare practices gained both from academic study and on-the-job experience, which was reflected in my inspection report  as i was graded "Outstanding" by Ofsted.

I accept all children between 12 months and 4 years old.

Special Needs Support

Before your child starts, you will be asked to fill out an “All about me” form which will give me more of an insight to your child’s likes/dislikes, etc and potentially show me areas they may need extra support with.

Once your child has settled, a “baseline assessment” will be made. From this information “Next steps” will be generated.  There are two statutory assessments e.g., progress check at two and E.Y.F.S tracker. The progress check will be ready in time for your child’s development check with the health visitor at two years old. Before this appointment we can go through the report and if your child is delayed in any area of development i can answer any questions or concerns and you can also discuss this with your health visitor.

The tracker will be updated each term and can be viewed whenever you wish.

From the outset I will begin to form a relationship with you and your child through various ways eg, settling in sessions, daily feedback, weekly /monthly planning.

I provide a language rich environment tailored to the needs of my current children, providing ideas and resources for parents to use at home (Which reflect current interest/topic) while offering an accessible environment with daily access to outdoor spaces.

My teaching starts with planning and risk assessing the environment to ensure each child can thrive in the setting. The playroom is flooded with natural light and the walls are painted neutral to promote a sense of calm.

If a targeted plan doesn’t seem to be helping us to move forward, I may need your consent to refer to outside agencies, e.g., speech and language, therefore now meaning the targeted plan will change to a personalised plan.

I am always happy and willing to further update my knowledge by completing training were necessary.

Once your child has settled, a “baseline assessment” will be made. From this information “Next steps” will be generated, and this may be shared with you. Using my E.Y.F.S. tracker this will be updated each term. There are two statutory assessments e.g., progress check at two and E.Y.F.S tracker. The progress check will be ready in time for your child’s development check with the health visitor at two years old. Before this appointment we can go through the report and if your child is delayed in any area of development, I can answer any concerns and you can also discuss this with your health visitor.

I ensure I provide an inclusive practice that enables all children to be included and all activities are suitable to meet the needs of everyone in my care. When it comes to outings, I will always risk assess to see if there are any new risks and how and if we can work around this.

Unfortunately, I do not have wheelchair access.

I’m happy for reception teachers to attend my setting to see how your child plays/learns in a familiar and comfortable environment.

A transition report will be written for you to give to the new teacher. This report will include any strengths and or weaknesses. As well as where I believe they are according to the E.Y.F.S

In the setting we will start to focus on what it may be like at school and will build activities around this.

* Review policies and procedures each year or when a new child starts to ensure it's still relevant.

*Informal meetings with parents to ensure we are working on the same page

*Attend any relevant training via online/face to face/reading books

*Parent questionnaire

If you are considering a place, please do not hesitate to contact me via email me with your requirements and we can go from there.

*I welcome all constructive criticism and pride myself on always being very approachable and professional.

*All policies and procedures can be made available at anytime

*Annual feedback forms

* Previous compliments left via online platforms eg Facebook, childcare.co.uk

*The setting complaints procedure along with Ofsted’s can be found on the notice wall.
