The Oxney Local History Group was formed in May 2001. Membership is open to all who are interested in the local history of the Isle of Oxney.
We are a very informal group with a small committee of 5 people. Dave Fletcher is the co-ordinator for the group, Fiona Dengate is assistant co-ordinator and Lathy Head is our treasurer.
The aims of the group are:
1. Find and research all aspects of the history of the Isle of Oxney.
2. Set down a permanent record of all the research undertaken, for the use of other interested parties and future generations.
3. Help others to gain an interest in our island's history by the regular display of all researched items and artefacts and, if possible, produce a regular newsletter.
4. Meet up socially with other individuals and groups that share our common interest.
We meet up as a group 4 times a year in January, March, May, Sptember and November. We go on visits and work on projects in the other months.
