Brogdale CIC / Craftworks College

Craftworks College, part of The Brogdale CIC Group, is a post 16 specialist provider college that works with young people aged from 16-18 and up to 25 if they have an Education and Health Care plan. EHCp. We have 6 sites based in Swale and Ashford, we deliver practical courses to enable youing people to gain the skills to look at work in the local economies.

We work in small groups to be able to get to know students, their dreams and aspirations, their skills and talents and their needs so that we can support them to develop their life skills and have positive next steps into adulthood.  We believe that education can play a powerful part in addressing social inclusion whether through economic, disability, mental health or difference.

We understand that a young person’s development is more than educational qualifications, that they will be seeking to understand themselves and others, shaping their attitude and behaviours, forming their values, whilst working through the natural physical and emotional development that takes place in adolescence moving them towards being independent. We aim to support each individual to become the best version of themselves, where they feel confident, valued and equipped to enter adulthood.

Vision Craftworks College

We believe that everyone can make a contribution to society, no matter what their ability or background.  Each person is of value.  We aim to provide a practical learning experience enhancing skills, providing qualifications and equipping young people with a positive step change into adulthood and independent living.

Craftworks College is part of The Brogdale CIC Group which also consists of Vibe Community youth provision and Brogdale CIC Social Care.  The 3 individual companies work in tandem to develop, deliver and improve opportunities for those who are often forgotten in society.  We work with those who have a disability, may be disadvantaged in other ways, be experiencing poor mental health or have disengaged from mainstream education.  It is the Intent of Craftworks College and The Brogdale CIC Group to create community bases where young people and adults with disabilities can access education that enhances learning and opportunities to  gain qualifications, life skills and positive social care activities, attend youth clubs and activities that provide social connections, where adults can take part in job roles that could lead to volunteering, enhancing personal skills and form lasting friendships.  Where the community can be part of the solution in building support systems, integrating people from different backgrounds, abilities and needs.

Through building community spaces that provide education, entertainment and opportunity we believe we will support wellbeing, create mini businesses able to offer enhanced support needed for work experience, address issues of isolation and loneliness, break down barriers of inequality and provide a safe, healing environment where families and individuals can seek and find support.

We are establishing these sites in key areas known for deprivation on the Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD).  We recognise that we cannot do this alone and seek to form community partnerships to attain our aims.
