Description

Each child at Bridge Village Playgroup has a key person who takes a special interest in individual children and is a point of contact for parents. They will help them to settle in when they start and give them any extra support they might need in their time with us. They do regular observations and plan for their progress and development.

We are a small setting and pride ourselves on our friendly approach and easy accessibility for parents/carers. We have a lot of siblings and build up a good relationship with families.

Playgroup has a named SENCO who will support and guide parents if required.  They attend Lift meetings, up date training and contact outside agencies and services when required.

Playgroup has disabled access/toilet.

Activites and resources are planned around all children and those who have additional/special educational needs in consultation with thier parents/carers.

Special Needs Support

Each child has a progress/development diary which charts their progress through Playgroup, observations are carried out at each session the child attends and any concerns are documented.

Parents are consulted with input from the childs key person and SENCO should it be required. Parents are able to raise any concerns they may have at any time with their childs Keperson/SENCO/Manager.

The SENCO will contact any outside agencies the are required such as Health Visitor and Speech and Language. The SENCO will also attend LIFT/SEND meeting if funding for extra support is require.

Parents/carers are encouraged to talk to their childs key person if the have any concerns or are anxious about any part of their childs development on entry to Playgroup.

Any arrangements, planning, resources, funding, support will be coordinated  by the childs Key person with support from Playgroups SENCO.

Parents/carers can ask for meetings at any point in their childs time at Playgroup.

Parent/carers will receive progress/development diary's 3 times a year (including 2yr check) and any further updates or information at any time.

Activities and resources will be made available for each child needs. Listening to parents/carers as to strategies/ actions that work well at home.

Such as small group activities or one to one sessions, planed to help with a need or difficulty a child may have. such as bouncing on a trampoline for a child with balance difficulties and putting beads into a pot with tongs for a child with small motor needs.

Allowing children to attend flexible hours were possible(leaving early/ starting early having a rest session)

Staff are learning Makaton, and attend any other relevant training.

Key person/SENCO will make regular reports on progress to parents and Parents can speak to Key person/ SENCO at any suitable time.

Any actions/planning that is used at home can be implemented at our setting and anything working well in the setting can be reported back to parents and carers to try at home.

All planning/ routines/ activities will be discussed with parents and carers for their input.

Any relevant training/ resources or information will be made available to parents and carers

The SENCO will liaise will outside agencies such as the Specialist Teacher and Learning Service, Speech and Language therapists.

Also they can get support\ make a referral and funding through the Local Inclusion Team Forum.

Playgroup has a SEND police and procedure that is up dated yearly, or on advise.

A childs Key person will monitor their progress, completing a 2yr check and working together with the health visiting team and the child's Red Book information.

Their progress/ development document is completed 3 times a year and shared with parents/carers.

This can be more frequent if children have additional needs

Our setting is inclusive and no children are excluded from activities because of their needs.

Extra resources such as staff and equipment can be provided so all children can take part in activities and outings.

Staff can attend training or access information that might benefit a child with additional needs or SEND
