Description

I am a much smaller setting than a nursery therefore I can provided more 1 to 1 care.

Special Needs Support

I ask each parent to complete an all about me form so that i can read and see each child's strengths and weakness so that i can see which areas the children need additional help.  The All about me form provides me with lots of different information and is unique to each child it shows me there interests  and starting points.  Between the ages of 24-36 months i will do a 2 year check on each child which will identify exactly where each child is in there area's of development I will usually aim to complete this so that it can be taken along to the child's check with there health visitor.  It will show next steps that i am planning for that particular child.  I will discuss with the parent/carer any concerns i have and what i am planning to do to help develop on area's that need additional support.  I will attend relevant training to keep myself up to date with identifying how might need extra support.  I have experience with epilepsy.

I will message you and ask if you can spare me a few moments for a chat/update on how your child is developing within the setting.  I will show you plans i have set in place to help your child and i will also give you a daily diary which will inform you of your child's day.  I will take photos of your child throughout the day so that you can see what your child has done and i will put these in there very own learning journal.

I will provide lots of opportunity for your child to speak by asking questions and giving simple tasks for them to do,  I have lots of speech and language resource to help with speech development.  Because my setting is small children feel safe, i praise children for good behaviour.  I am looking into doing baby signing within the setting to teach the children how to sign.  I have a very large garden so the children have space to run around and build on there motor skills.  I also live very close to 2 parks which we regularly visit.

My home is very child friendly, the rooms are well lit and very neutral providing a calm environment.  I have numerous resources and regularly buy new bits for the setting keeping it up to date.  Children are asked to help with little tasks like setting the table for lunch.  We attend childminding groups so that the children meet other children.  I often have a reptile man come round to show the children different animals and teach them about the animals he brings this is a favourite with all the children.

If your child does'nt seem to be making sufficient progress I will discuss with you about referring them to other services to help.  I will need your consent to do this and i will work very closely with the other agencies get the best results for your child.

I will be noting everything in your child's learning journal which i will send home with them regular for you to read through and make any comments or concerns on.  We will have regular communication so you can speak to me about your child.  This can be done at a convenient time to yourselves. It is very important to me to have good relationships with parents so we can work together to meet the child's needs.

We regularly take trips to the parks, beach and other groups.  I will do a risk assesments for each trip we take.

Unfortunately i do not have wheelchair access.

All paperwork, learning journals will be passed on to there new setting along with a transition report.
