The Compassionate Friends are a charity that supports bereaved parents and their families after a child dies. The Compassionate Friends is open to all parents whose son or daughter has died at any age and from any cause, and also to grandparents and siblings. The Compassionate Friends are there to offer continuing understanding, friendship, encouragement and hope. The Compassionate friends provides opportunities to listen and share experiences and feelings. They run:
- a helpline run by bereaved parents.
- a network of local contacts, some of whom may offer to meet one-to-one or hold group support meetings.
- a private online forum.
- a range of publications written by bereaved parents, offering both practical and emotional support.
- newsletters and advice.
- occasional bring-and-share days and informal get-togethers.
- legal helpline.
