Service Statement
My name is Lana, I am a mother of 3 which gives me the best possible experience at caring for your child. I am an OFSTED registered child minder since October 2012 I have attended a pre-registration child minding course, Early Years First Aid course, and Children’s Safeguarding Training course for childminders.
I am a member of the PACEY and have a full insurance policy through them.
I have completed a Food Standards Agency Safer Food, Better Business for Child Minders pack which you welcome to view.
I am registered with the Information Commissioners Officer (ICO) which covers the data protection act.
I am available all year round, for evenings, weekends and I am registered for overnight care. I work during term and holiday periods to be as flexible for working parents as possible.
I charge competitive hourly rates and offer sibling discount.
I provide home-made and freshly prepared simple nutritious meals suitable for all ages and dietary requirements of children as I am keenly aware of allergy and other cultural limitations and personal tastes.
I drop off and collect from Oakfield Primary and would consider other local schools in Dartford.
I offer an extensive library of books, educational materials up to 11+, messy play, crafts and games/toys. As a rule I would advise a spare set of clothes just in case, but provide protective aprons to keep their clothes clean. I provide lots of stimulating toys for young children to discover and enjoy.
I make attending play groups, play centres, library and parks a regular part of my daily routine and given the location all of these can be accessed by walking. Where venues are further afield we go by car. I have strict policies regarding travel by car, and ask all parents to read and sign where necessary.
School runs in the morning and afternoon occur during term times. I will always schedule time for naps and learning. Part of their time with me is spent working on developing their foundation skills in readiness for their next level of education whether its nursery or reception. I cover all the 3 Prime and 4 Specific areas of development. It is during this time that observations are made and planning is done for the next session. All of these are recorded and shared with parents.
I like to share the progress and achievements of all the children I care for, and as such provide photographic evidence of this along with work completed.
The designated areas for play are the lounge (indoors) and covered decking in the rear garden which means no matter what the weather they can play outside. The back door is open and there are no restrictions regarding playing in the decking area. The decking area is fenced off with a lockable gate meaning they are safe. There are extensive toys and activities in the decking. The activity area in the dining room is for crafts, homework and study. The use of upstairs is only by way of the toilet and nappy changing areas.
My policy on TV is that while children do enjoy TV shows designed for them, I provide sufficient activities and toys to ensure they don’t feel a need to watch television. I normally allow roughly no more than 30-45 minutes a day. While I use multimedia educational programs on a laptop or iPad, I do not allow any child to use an internet connected device without supervision. I am aware children see both computer and TV as a reward for good behaviour, but work with parents to ensure that restrictions and limitations are not unbalanced.
I work in conjunction with parents to ensure I deliver the best possible service tailored to their child. I produce a daily diary which is shared to the parents logging food eaten, naps taken and nappies used. I also use this form to detail activities and free play undertaken. There is sufficient room for parents to give feedback.
hope this statement gives you a good overview of the service I offer. Please see my policies for a more detailed breakdown of my individual internal policies. If you would like more information, please contact me.
