Helen Marie Skillett

Open Monday to Thursday 8am-6pm, Friday 8am-1pm. I do not open bank holidays. I provide meals for an additional cost, all allergies catered to. Open 50 weeks of the year.

I take children from 6 months upwards and provide care for school age children attending Ashford Oaks, Godinton Primary and Tenterden primary at present too.

The children have access to the family smallholding, where they have the opportunity to feed and collect eggs from chickens and grow fruit and veg. We do this in our secure outdoor spaces at home too.

Special Needs Support

Completion of getting to know me forms with parents, regular reports also.

I complete regular progress reports and personal scrap books are filled with children’s achievements and/or activities.

Daily diaries completed for those in Early Years age range.

Each child’s educational planning is based on information gained on an initial visit and the parents completion of a ‘Getting to know me’ form. I’m happy to access any training that will further help children in my care and their achieving to their best abilities.

Though my setting wouldn't be suitable for children with physical disabilities, I would be able to cater for language and/or learning delay in children.

I intend to provide an inclusive environment for all and already use makaton in setting, I will happily access any relevant training that may ensure I provide the tailored support to individuals requiring such care.

The progress reports will highlight concerns and with parent partnership we can address any issues and provide support where needed together.

My environment is spacious and I provide opportunity for floor and table play.

My step at door could be an obstacle to wheelchair access and doorways are standard widths indoors too.

I insist on helping transition by being part of this process, the few weeks before school we work together on skills that will help once children are in school environment and both parents and school receive reports highlighting skills and/or areas requiring support.

The parents are encouraged to look at the environment and assess suitability to their child’s needs. I have toilet facilities available and appropriate equipment for nappy changing.
