Dartford Orchestra for Young People - Kent Music

Open to all instruments, young musicians will play together and learn essential ensemble skills, improving their musical knowledge, as well as experimenting with creating their own new music, improvising and singing.  Sessions will enable players to meet other young musicians from across Dartford and challenge the idea of the traditional orchestra, in a fun environment.

The orchestra is open to musicians in years 6-13, who are a grade 2-5 standard (or have been playing for 3 years). All instruments are welcome. If your instrument requires an amp, you will need to supply this. If you play the piano/keyboard or drums, please contact us before attending the group to check availability.

What instruments can join?

All instruments are welcome, including non-traditional instruments. Although singing will be incorporated into the sessions, this is a group for instrumentalists.

What level do I have to be?

The ensemble is for mixed abilities. As a minimum level, participants should have been learning their instrument for 3 years (or Grade 2 equivalent). The upper limit is Grade 5 or equivalent.

What do I need to bring?

Your instrument! Please bring an amp and leads if your instrument requires it. If you play the piano/keyboard or drums, please contact us before attending the group to check availability. In these circumstances, we may be able to provide access to the relevant instrument for the duration of each session.

What if I don't have an instrument?

Instruments are available to hire from Kent Music, should you not have your own. Instruments can also be provided through Kent Music's Financial Assistance Scheme, for those that qualify.

How do I apply?
