Description

I endeavour to provible an accessible service to all children.

Special Needs Support

During the first visits that I have with parents, we will discuss the child and their needs. This enables me to identify any needs or additional resources required in the first instance. Once a child has started I complete a baseline assessment which provides more information on the child and any needs they may have. I have completed various training courses which have helped me to learn how to identify children who may require extra support and I am also willing to work closely with other setting that the children attend in order to provide continuous support

At the end of each day I will send information via WhatsApp to all parents which includes photographs and a description of what we have been doing during the day. I give feedback when the child is collected and at any other time that I feel it is necessary.

I complete learning journeys for all the children on an online system which helps me to track their progress and development. These are available via the website and the app which is provided to parents free of charge and is available 24 hours a day. These can be added to by parents also

I adapt my setting to the needs of individual children and I adapt the areas of learning as necessary. The activities I provide as well as the environment are adapted according to each child's needs and requirements.

I ensure that all activities are adapted to suit the needs of each individual child. I encourage all of the children to be independent and confident individuals.

My policies and procedures set out the approach I use to support children with SEND. I liaise with other agencies, parents and support services, as well as other settings that the child may attend. I complete regular training courses which enable me to identify and provide support for children who have Special educational needs.

It has always been my aim to work closely with the parents of the children that I care for. The learning journeys that I use can be added to by parents very easily and these show the children's learning and development progression. I complete a progress check at age 2 for all children and I work in conjunction with parents to ensure continuity of care between home and my setting.

We take trips on a daily basis. Sometimes to the park or wildlife park and sometimes further afield. I frequently risk assess while we are out to ensure that all of the children in my care are safe at all times. Any planned activities are adapted to meet any specific needs.

There is a small step at the front of my house which could be adapted if necessary but there is also a back entrance that is completely accessible and can be used if required.

I will share relevant paperwork with a new school or setting and other information as necessary. I request parental permission before sharing information.

My policies and procedures are evaluated and revised if necessary on an annual basis or when there are changes to legislation which means they need changing sooner. I regularly gain the views of parents and also when possible the children and this feedback is always taken into account when my policies are reviewed and also helps me to change areas of my practice when I need to.

When registering for a place at my setting, the procedure includes gaining information about the child, settling in sessions as required. I provide help to parents who may need to contact other agencies as well as support to access additional funding if necessary.

I have a complaints policy that is reviewed regularly and is available at all times via my online system to parents along with all of my other policies and procedures. My OFSTED parents poster is displayed in my setting so that parents can call them if they need to. Parents are asked to read and sign all of my policies prior to their child starting at my setting and encouraged to give feedback to help me improve my own practice.
