Michelle Archer

Outstanding fully qualified Ofsted registered childminder. I work with my assistants from my family home in Detling and I have been childminding since August 2005. I have worked with children over 33 years as I was a foster carer before becoming a registered childminder.

I provide day care form 0-5 year olds, I also child mind 5-12 year olds before and after school and during school holidays.

Hours of opening are 7.00am – 5.30pm Monday to Thursday , with other times available by arrangement.  I provide a school run to Hollingbourne School only.

The children enjoy the outdoor play area in my setting. We like to play outside in all weathers we have artificial grass that is very safe for young children. . We visit parks, woods, play areas, Leeds Castle, Kent Life, Cobtree Manor, Heritage sites and Historical Gardens.

I provide each parent with a secure, password protected online daily diary of their child’s activities so that they can share in their activities and development.

For my first Ofsted inspection in 2005 I was awarded satisfactory. Six years and a lot of hard work later i got graded as OUTSTANDING in 2011 in all 17 aspects. After my most recent Ofsted inspection in December 2015. I was rated as 'Outstanding' again in all the new 4 aspects. In November 2021 I was rated Good with the new Ofsted inspection outcomes. In September 2023 I had the opportunity to open a nursery in the Hollingbourne Village Pavilion.

At my childminding setting I have a lovely bright playroom with a variety of educational toys.

Every child is unique, and develops in their own time. We will encourage their progress and plan for your child’s next steps within a secure, caring and stimulating environment enhancing their development and helps them to be ready for school and their life beyond.

Notes

I am always up to date with the new EYFS paperwork and training. I have completed the Quality Assured Childminding Participation Form and I am an Approved Provider that can take eligible families for the ' free for 2' scheme and free entitlement for 3 and 4 year olds and other vouchers.

I am also registered with KCC to deliver the Early Years Entitlement, to a maximum of 15 hours a week, (up to 570 hours) of the year for eligible 3 and 4 year old's.

Working with parents, I like to be as flexible as possible while delivering the 15 hours of free childcare.

You can use your 15 / 30 hours:

Between 7am and 5.30pm, Monday to Thursday.

For a minimum of 2 and a half hours a day

For a maximum of 10 hours a day

You can split your 15 / 30 hours between up to 2 providers, for example a childminder and a nursery. You don't have to use the whole 15 / 30 hours if that seems too much. If you request  more then 15 / 30 hours, you will need to pay the extra cost yourself.

I am registered with different childcare vouchers as an payment method.

Special Needs Support

We have two trained staff members on site Michelle Archer and Kayleigh Pullan, that are fully SENCO trained. We also observe each child's development milestones. We complete the statutory assessment when your child turns two. New parents are asked to complete a 'all about me' form that will give us an idea of your child's strength and weaknesses.

We will communicate with you in various ways. If we need to speak to you regarding your child it will be via email, face to face, babysdays software or telephone. You will be made aware of your child's key person who will kepp you updated, we also send out daily photos and a Short description of your child's day.

We follow the EYFS that states that all children are unique. We will plan activities based on your child's interests and needs.

We set up the setting accordingly for all the children, age appropriate. All staff do ongoing training learning the best way to implement the curriculum and monitor all children's progress. The SENCO staff have received follow up training from The Educational People.

We work as a whole team to ensure we are delivering the best care to all children. If your child is not making the progress they should be through their personal plan, we can with your permission be able to refer them through LIFT to be assessed if they need extra help within the setting.

Myself and staff is assigned as key workers and their job will be to monitor your child's progress using different resources. Every term we provide you with a termly report giving details of your childs progress.

We will make every child feel welcome within the setting. If your child has additional needs or SEND they be assigned a key worker that will work on a one to one basis if needed, when a group activity is taking place. If we got on any trips, we will make sure we research beforehand to check suitability for all children in our care.

We have steps up to the house and a gravel driveway, making it a little difficult to manoeuvre.

When your child is ready to move onto school we will complete a transition form, letting their teacher know as much as we can about your child. We will also pass on their last termly report so the teacher has an idea on your child's development.

We welcome parents and careers into the setting at drop off and pick up times. This gives them the opportunity to talk to their key worker about their child. I have completed my SENCO training and can offer guidance or information on anything we are doing within the setting.

You can contact us directly via telephone or email to arrange a good time to visit the setting.

We operate an open door policy where all staff can be apptoached with any compliments or complaints. We also send out questionaires to the parents to fill in.
