Notes

The Beeches is a very special environment where adults of all ages with learning disabilities and/or mental health needs can be assisted to reach their full potential. Set in the heart of Canterbury, The Beeches is very much a part of the Community.

The home's philosophy is to maintain a person-centred approach that encourages individuals to take as much responsibility as they can, to make their own decisions and develop a sense of self-worth within a loving, relaxed, safe and supportive "family" environment.

Their daily life is always varied. Domestic comfort and privacy is supported by a rich and varied social life both in and beyond the immediate Beeches setting. Some of the service users attend various resource centres on a daily basis. Others enjoy the extensive range of indoor activities the home offers or their own favourite hobbies.

All service users play a valuable part in the running of their own home and all help with household duties in some way. Their lounge areas encourage friendship and social activity, whilst the quiet lounge offers tranquillity. All bedrooms at The Beeches are single. Service users participate in personalising the furnishing and décor of their bedrooms. The large gardens facilitate external activities.

They attend many different day trips and special events include holding summer fetes, birthday parties for all service users, BBQ’s & music events.

Behind the stimulating, encouraging atmosphere is a professional team of staff. They have a comprehensive staff training schedule incorporating NVQ’s, first aid & multiple aspects of health, safety and social care. The Beeches is a registered with the CQC and holds contracts with KCC and Medway Social Services' and offers long-term care.
