Special Needs Support
How does the setting identify children with additional needs or SEND?
Before the child starts at my setting I ask the parents to fill in a all about me form this gives me the opportunity to share information on their learning development. I can then complete a baseline and have the knowledge of there strengths and weaknesses. If additional help is needed I will provide support in the specific area of need.
How will I be informed / consulted about the ways in which my child is being supported?
I will provide daily communication books for each child. These will include activities they have taken part in on the day, their routine throughout the day aswell as any concerns or information the parent needs to know and there is also space for the parent to reply back.
How will the setting adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for my child's needs?
Each child will receive a tracker which identifies the learning outcomes for the seven areas of learning within their age group.
What teaching strategies does the setting use for children with additional needs or learning difficulties?
As a childminder I will ensure that I have activities that make sure your child gets the most learning from these will be planned activities or activities that the children choose themselves. All planned activities ensure all children are included.
What additional support does the setting provide for children with additional needs or SEND?
Regardless of SEND all children should have their interests and needs met.
How will the setting monitor my child's progress and how will I be involved in this?
I will monitor the children's progress by using the eyfs curriculum whilst carrying out observations, I will collect all the information and photos for the parents to see and then use the next steps and reflect it to the eyfs.
How do you ensure children with additional needs or SEND can be included in the same activities as other children, including trips?
The children are all treated the same and as individuals I will provide activities that can engage all children from all disabilities using strategies that the children can understand.i am looking at doing a sen course to help me to understand a lot more. I will seek any additional resources that I might need to ensure all children can participate in everything we do.
How accessible is the building for children with mobility difficulties / wheelchair users?
We mainly use the front of the house but there is accessibility to the back of the house for a wheelchair's if needed.
How will you support my child's transition to a new setting or school?
When the children are getting ready to transition to school setting as a childcare provider I do daily activities to enable the child/children to learn how to dress undress, open a lunch box, put on there coat and shoes use a knife and fork and drink out of a cup and also recognising there name. We also encourage the child/children to write there own name. I give the parents a check lists so they are able to follow the same things as I do with the children.
How does the setting assess the overall effectiveness of its SEN provision and how can parents / carers take part in this evaluation?
At the moment I do not have any children with sen in my provision but if I did I would gather all the evidence and share with all people involved with the child. I send questionnaires to the parents enabling them to give there thoughts on my setting which lets my know if I need to make improvements.
Who should I contact if I am considering registering for a place at the setting?
Jacqueline mills
What arrangements does the setting have for feedback from parents / carers, including compliments and complaints?
We use daily diaries and also send parents out evaluation forms
we encourage the parents to arrange a meeting if they have any concerns. Face to face consultations are done on a daily basis.
I have policies and procedures for complaints these are given to parents when joining my setting.

Amazing service
My Daughter is currently in Jackie's mills setting, and I honestly can't recommend her enough, she goes above and beyond. My daughter settled in without any issues and comes home with all different activities thats she done through the week . Jackie and her 2 assistants are happy and bubbly and make going to work easy for me . 100% star rating from meĀ
Not straight forward
While our child was with Jackie, we discovered our child started swearing at home which we don't encourage at all. We told Jackie and she said it will never happen again that the child who swears has now left her service but unfortunately right in our presence the following morning a boy who happens to be related to her on arriving her premises swore right in our facing calling her a 'Shit hole'. We were really concerned and had to take actions to withdraw our child from her care. Shortly before our child left Jackie, she had claim 30 hours free government hours for the rest of the term, for which our child won't be with her which she denied outrightly. We contacted Jackie but she said she only claimed for the period our child was with her. After further investigation by Kent Children and Families information service it was discovered that she has claimed for the whole session. We confronted her with this new information and the whole story changed. She said she did what was right at the time and she is not going to return any money to us. This has left my family in a very difficult financial situation regarding childcare fees with our new provider, we are having to pay fees using credit card, thanks to Jackie and her cunny character.
