aArtvark is a group that promotes health, wellbeing and security through the use of art in education and therapy. At aArtvark we use a wide variety of techniques such as pencils, pens, pastels, watercolour, acrylic, batik, felt making, clay, papier-mâché, printing, IT- skills, photography and other media. All aspects of art are adapted to the individual needs of the students.
We have an exhibition every year where the students are involved with the whole process. It is a joy to see how proud the students are to display their work to the public and to discuss it with visitors. We are currently working on a permanent display in the 111 station and we are also busy making artwork for a new bistro in Canterbury called Lillie, which is another great life experience for all our students.
We also teach a range of accredited courses such as communication, numeracy, horticulture, computer technology and financial skills. We believe in integrated learning with a focus on life skills and art. We have a great professional team and are continuously developing our subjects and techniques. Building on social skills is one of our daily priorities.
Occasionally there are outings to places such as Harry Potter Studio, restaurants, the cinema and the theatre.
