Springhead Park Primary School

At Springhead Park Primary School we believe that to succeed in school and beyond, children should love to learn, be inspired to reach their full potential and feel empowered to make a positive impact on the world around them- whether upon their local community or the further afield. To achieve this, our dedicated staff will set the highest of standards whilst at the same time providing a nurturing and encouraging climate for all children, regardless of their background or circumstance.

The school ethos will be underpinned by the Primary First Trust’s values of Adventure, Excellence and Creativity.

We will ensure that through an experiential and meaningful curriculum, children will achieve excellent academic standards and understand how to their skills and knowledge can be used and applied.

Special Needs Support

At Springhead Park Primary we like to build strong relationships with parents and carers so we can discuss concerns about the children.  Within the nursery day, staff get to know the children very well and should they notice signs of a Special Educational Need, they will liaise with the school SENCO and with parents and carers to discuss and find a way to best meet the needs of the child.

The Nursery practitioner will contact parent and carer to arrange meeting which will include Mrs Baker our SENDco.

Our nursery practitioners plan a holistic curriculum.  Within the provision practitioners prepare activities and resources which promote social interaction, curiosity and experimentation.  For significant time during the session pupils freely interact with the provision and staff work with children to promote their independence, social skills and understanding of the world.  When interacting with the child this is bespoke to the child's needs.

We view every child as an individual and where a child is experiencing a Special Educational Need, we are advised by our SENDco, Specialist Teachers and professionals from outside the school.  Details are discussed at regular intervals throughout the year always focusing on the progress the child has made and what we can do to enable further progress.

We offer intimate care if children are not yet toilet trained and will liaise with parent and carer if any medication is required during the session.

Progress is reported to parents and carers three times a year and nursery families are also invited to meet their child's nursery teacher twice a year.

Within the provision practitioners prepare activities and resources which promote social interaction, curiosity and experimentation. We make every effort for pupils with SEND need to access the same provision as their peers, including any trips.

There are three disabled car park spaces and the whole building is wheel chair accessible (this includes a ceiling hoist in the hygiene room and lift to upstairs).

We offer a parent consultation with the nursery teacher and two parent stay and play sessions.

As part of The Primary First Trust we canvas parents feedback with a survey twice a year.

Please contact Sarah Pattison our Admissions Officer in the school office.

At Springhead Park Primary School we have a complaints policy which is available on our school website or alternatively please contact the school office.
