Special Needs Support
How does the setting identify children with additional needs or SEND?
Parents are asked to detail any special needs on the Registration form. I can then discuss with parents how to manage and cater for the additional needs.
How will I be informed / consulted about the ways in which my child is being supported?
Daily diary reporting and daily conversations with parents at drop off and pick up times. And parents are able to contact me during the day on updates.
How will the setting adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for my child's needs?
I will review, monitor and adapt the curriculum around the abilities of the child and provide the one-to-one attention the child may need. I will also seek training as and when required.
What teaching strategies does the setting use for children with additional needs or learning difficulties?
I will work with the parents as to the best approach and seek training if required.
What additional support does the setting provide for children with additional needs or SEND?
I am currently trained to deal with a child with Type 1 Diabetes.
If the neccesity arises, I am happy to be trained to deal with other children with additional needs.
How will the setting monitor my child's progress and how will I be involved in this?
I will communicate daily with parents.
How do you ensure children with additional needs or SEND can be included in the same activities as other children, including trips?
As a small setting, all the children will share the same activities.
How accessible is the building for children with mobility difficulties / wheelchair users?
All the rooms used for child care are on the same floor, and if required, I can create a makeshift ramp for the front and back doors to gain access outside.
How will you support my child's transition to a new setting or school?
I will review and monitor individual needs and adapt development strategies to suit.
How does the setting assess the overall effectiveness of its SEN provision and how can parents / carers take part in this evaluation?
Parents are always invited to visit my setting so they can review and evaluate whether the setting is right for their child.
Who should I contact if I am considering registering for a place at the setting?
Pui-Sang Jellett, details as above
What arrangements does the setting have for feedback from parents / carers, including compliments and complaints?
I always welcome feedback from parents and we work continuously to ensure the best care for the child.
