Kingsdown House Residential

Kingsdown is a residential service supporting adults aged 18+ with autism spectrum conditions, moderate learning disabilities, mental health needs, complex needs including behaviours that may challenge and/or hearing impairments.

Kingsdown seeks to enable each person to have the opportunity to build meaningful and active lifestyles. We support individuals to engage with their environment and make choices about their lives. Each person has an individual activity plan tailored around their likes and dislikes and staff are happy to look into enabling any other activities that they would like to take part in but which are not currently available.

Notes

Each service user has an individual activity plan tailored around their likes and dislikes and staff are happy to look into enabling any other activities that they would like to take part in but which are not currently available.

In-house activities include gardening, cooking and other independence skills, art and craft sessions, sensory sessions, games and puzzles, DVD nights and music sessions. There are regular reflexology and chiropody sessions and service users enjoy using the Wii and Wii Fit and playing interactive games on the home’s PlayStation 3.

Outside the home, service users take part in activities including key skills teaching in the community, personal shopping and banking, visits to the library and to local restaurants and pubs and attending places of worship. Others include bowling, horse riding, attending various clubs and groups – including the Hermione Club, for people with a disability in the Medway area, a local Mencap group and the M.A.P.S. service for people with learning and/or physical disabilities – coffee mornings and attending local discos.
