Kent College Prep School - Nursery Unit

Kent College Pembury is officially an ‘excellent’ school following their top rating in 2016 ISI Report

'The children explore, investigate and communicate well and become absorbed in their activities, whether in teacher-led sessions or in their chosen activities."

Set in the midst of a 75 acre site, Kent College Preparatory School offers an excellent education for girls aged 3-11. We focus on the academic, social and emotional development of our pupils, providing opportunities for them to challenge themselves, have fun, flourish and dream in an idyllic rural setting

Our belief is that happiness and confidence are fundamental factors in a child’s success, and this shapes our approach to learning and the development of confident, communicative and intellectually curious girls. We provide a happy learning environment and create a balanced education focusing on the girls’ strengths and weaknesses. We provide them with excellent teaching and resources, offer enrichment opportunities and dedicated learning support so that we can cater for the needs of our pupils.

Staff know how to balance work and play, ensuring our pupils enjoy coming to school.  We provide extension beyond the requirements of the National Curriculum and offer opportunities to participate in a range of extracurricular activities.

Taking risks and making mistakes are both integral components of the learning process.  We offer a safe environment both within and outside the classroom for risk taking and challenge. Our ECA programme is designed to enhance the curriculum and offer girls the chance to try new activities and test themselves. The range of activities is diverse and constantly evolving, furthering the girls’ current interests and introducing them to new opportunities such as Tag Rugby, Eco Explorers Club, Gymnastics Academy are just a few examples of the 30+ extracurricular activities that are available.

Opportunities to learn beyond the classroom include a wide variety of trips and excursions such as trips to museums, theatres and farms.  Girls regularly hear from visiting authors, artists, scientists and zoo keepers and are always excited at meeting and learning from their visitors.

Our wrap around care is extensive and (Breakfast Club and After School Care) is used by Nursery to Year 6 girls.  Flexiboarding is available from Year 3 and girls love the sleepovers they have in our homely Junior boarding house.  This service is highly valued by our busy working parents.

Vacancies Details
Generally girls join the nursery class in September following their third birthday with the option of flexible sessions. Girls joining in September need to attend a minimum of three sessions (one session = either morning or afternoon attendance) a week, but have the opportunity of signing up for as many sessions as they wish. For some girls this may mean that they attend full-time. In addition, nursery girls can attend Breakfast Club and After School Care. Girls who are aged 3 before September may also join the class at other times in the school year and the above information about session attendance applies to them. We also accept girls at the beginning of the spring and summer terms if they have had their third birthday after September. However, please note that these girls will remain in nursery for the following academic year. The sessions available for these girls entering at the spring and summer terms will be dependent on numbers in our current nursery class. At present the sessions are Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.
