Demelza Hospice Care

Demelza Hospice Care for Children is a registered charity that provides specialist nursing care and emotional support for babies, children, young people and their families in Kent, East Sussex and South East London.

At Demelza, we believe every child and young person who has a life threating or life limiting condition should receive the care and attention they need to live the most fulfilling life they can, and that they and their families have the opportunity to build memories, for however long they have together.

Our short breaks and day care services offer day care and overnight stays at one of our hospices in Kent or South East London. Children and young people will have the chance to enjoy our amazing facilities and use our therapy services. Families also have the choice of a short break in the comfort of their own homes via our Care at Home Service.

Our family support team have a variety of expertise surrounding family liaison, bereavement support, therapies and family events.  Using our knowledge and experience, we can offer families bespoke emotional, practical, social and advocacy support.

Therapies at Demelza can help children and families to express emotions that are too difficult to put into words, through art and music, these services can be accessed online or in one of our hospices.

Families can access our hydrotherapy pool with hoists and ramps, enabling children and young people to swim with their family, which they are often otherwise unable to do in a public pool. The warm water supports much of a child’s body weight and can increase circulation, reduce muscle spasms and relieve pain.

We offer specialist end of life care and bereavement services; our nursing and family support teams are available to help support families through the most difficult of times.
