Local Offer

Description

We have a dedicated Senco who is available to chat regarding any concerns you may have.

We follow the graduated approach to ensure all children are supported at universal level. Further intervention is offered if upon review of targets, we feel this would benefit your child.

Through assessments, we plan using the Best Practice Guidance. We set SMART targets and these are reviewed termly to ensure your child is making good progress.

Special Needs Support

Each child has a keyperson who will initially speak to parents if they have any concerns.

All children are assessed as to how they access our provision from their first day, how they settle, how they communicate and interact. Their strengths and weaknesses interests and understanding. We allow a term for children to settle, some children may need support before the terms finished. Every child is different.

We monitor the barriers around the child's environment, we actively adapt and change to suit your childs interests and needs. We monitor the impact of theses changes and keep making small tweaks to ensure all children make good progress.

Children who require additional support are identified early and we work closely with parents and carers to fully support the child and whole family unit.

We use an online platform to manage all childrens progress and staff quickly identify any children who may be struggling and discuss their concerns with our Senco and parents.

If your child requires support or we feel your child is learning more slowly than they should, the Senco and keyperson will access your childs development together.

They will keep you informed every step of the way.

If your child doesn't progress despite well-targeted teaching the SenCo will discuss further options with you.

The SENCO will arrange a meeting with you to discuss the outcome of our assessments. We will talk about the next steps for your childs unique needs and set targets together to ensure they make good progress.  The keyperson will action these targets and they will be reviewed with parents and Senco termly.

Your child may be referred to other professionals, such as paediatrics and speech and language therapy. The Senco will always discuss this with you first.

Where necessary we may ask for support through the Quality and Inclusion Officer, they will offer specific advice to support your child's progress. The SENCO will feed this information back to you and together you will set targets to support your child's needs.

In some cases, children require additional support which is accessed though our Local Inclusion Forum Teams. This is a group of specifically trained professionals that offer support specific to your child.

In rare cases a formal education, health and care assessment may be required to ensure your child continues to make progress.

Learning and group activities are differentiated for each child dependant on their ability and need. For example... circle time is reduced in time with visual prompts for those that find group activities tricky.

Adult support offered at snack times for those that are learning to follow direction.

All children are encouraged to join in, barriers are removed as soon as they are noticed.

We combine speaking with visual prompts to ensure understanding, using simple signing if needed.

All activities are risk assessed and appropriate provisions are made to ensure all children have access to additional support as required.

This ensures they can fully participate in any activities provided and reach the best possible outcomes.

All activities are differentiated to meet the ages and stages of development for each child in session.

Children are offered additional support and resources to enable their full participation in the setting.

Including but not limited to, following a tried and tested routine every day. We use visuals for the day routine, simple sign language and objects to support understanding. Circle mats for those who struggle with attention. We use sand times to help children who find sharing tricky. We are empathetic to your children's needs and children are quick to pick up what they see.

We use basic language to ensure understanding and we always encourage interaction to ensure each child gets the best from every session.

We are predominantly a play based setting and we follow your child's interests to ensure they are engaged in every session.

For those that find speaking or communication tricky,  we have choices boards and communication stations to ensure they can express their wants and needs.

We follow a strong positive behaviour policy and have strong network of support to be able to provide children and families with the help they need, when they need it.

If necessary, Star charts are used to assess behaviour and Targeted plans are put in place to ensure positive outcomes for the child.

Your childs Key Person and Senco will work together to provide differentiated support and strategies to enable your child to make the best progress. You will always be included in setting targets for your child. We find parental involvement paramount to the progress children make.

Your childs Key Person will keep you informed of any support offered and progress made.

After risk assessments any further support is provided to ensure all children can participate in all activities.

Building is wheelchair accessible, although some provisions would need to be made for long term placement.

We believe in a strong transition programme. This starts two terms before starting school and includes trips to the new school, meet new teachers, classrooms, the new teachers even come to visit us at pre-school! Additional transition days have been arranged for children who have been accessed as needing them, you will be spoken to prior to this if necessary.

The setting completes audits which identify what we do well and what improvements we can make.

We keep communication open with parents and welcome any suggestions. We implement ongoing changes to ensure we provide the best environment we can.

In the first instance, please email the setting.

Please let us know if you have concerns or think your child will require additional support. This will ensure we are better placed to offer this from the day they start.

First contact is the Setting Supervisor or Deputy who are available onsite. The Committee Chair will be happy to assist where possible.
