Local Offer
Special Needs Support
How does the setting identify children with additional needs or SEND?
At the Pre-School we have a fully qualified Special Educational Needs Officer who will contact any outside agencies, with the parents permission, if necessary. Over the years we have had several children that have needed our support and pride ourselves on the help that we have given them and their families.
How will I be informed / consulted about the ways in which my child is being supported?
Parents are kept fully informed about their child's needs and are invited to all meetings with any outside agencies that we feel are necessary. Parents should talk to their child's keyperson about any concerns they may have.
How will the setting adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for my child's needs?
All children have a Keyperson and they will make individual plans for your child which will be shared with the parents/carer. These will regularly be shared with the parent/carer and action plans will be put in place if necessary. Our Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinator oversees any planning that is needed and makes sure that it is reviewed regularly.
What teaching strategies does the setting use for children with additional needs or learning difficulties?
Each child has his or hers own individual needs and so how the teaching strategies differ would depend on what that child needs. We would do anything that is necessary to provide a safe and stimulating environment.
What additional support does the setting provide for children with additional needs or SEND?
Every child at the Pre-School is valued and our fantastic Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinator,who has many years experience, provides as much support as is needed. Your child will have a home contact book for your keyperson and yourself to use on a daily basis and regular meetings with the keyperson and SENCO will keep you updated at all times.
How will the setting monitor my child's progress and how will I be involved in this?
We do regular observations on each child to track their progress. Each child has a 2 year check, Unique Stories, Transition Forms ,which we share with you at regular intervals during our Open Days. Children are regularly asked for their views and these are always taken into account.
How do you ensure children with additional needs or SEND can be included in the same activities as other children, including trips?
Our Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinator always makes contact with outside agencies to ask for their help to ensure that all children are included.
How accessible is the building for children with mobility difficulties / wheelchair users?
Our building has very good access for children with mobility difficulties and for wheelchair users.
How will you support my child's transition to a new setting or school?
We invite all teachers in to the setting to meet their children and take children to schools that invite us in. We share their latest Unique Story and provide them with transition forms. We invite parents in to chat about anything that they or their children are worried about.
How does the setting assess the overall effectiveness of its SEN provision and how can parents / carers take part in this evaluation?
We have many visual timetables and signs around the Pre-School for those children that need it. We have disabled toilets and disabled access for wheelchair users.
Who should I contact if I am considering registering for a place at the setting?
Please contact Michele Saunders
What arrangements does the setting have for feedback from parents / carers, including compliments and complaints?
We have regular questionnaires that we ask parents to fill in to get feedback about the Pre-School so that we can make improvements.
