Toni Goldsmith

I am an Ofsted registered childminder, with 21 years of experience. I am based in Sheerness and live with my husband, grown up son, and 2 friendly dogs; Buster and Dougie.

I run my setting solely by myself and offer a caring and fun environment for all children and their families. I use a variety of activities to help the children learn, grow and develop through their early years stages.

I offer funding for children aged between 2-4 years old. However, the age of the child will determine the number of funded hours that can be provided.

My usual working hours are Monday-Friday from 7.30am-6pm.

Special Needs Support

TJ's Totts makes regular assessments on the childrens progress during the time spent in the setting. If there are concerns with the child's progression, then these will be initially raised to the parents or guardians of the child so we can work together in dealing with matters in the best way for the child.

TJ's Totts is not a specialist provision for children with special educational needs but is willing to support the families of those with severe needs in making the correct choices for their child should they be identified.

TJ's Totts will make contact with you to discuss any concerns with your child.

TJ's Totts will help to meet the needs of your child the best we can and accomodate any changes that is practically possible. If the childs needs are beyond that of what I can offer then this will be explained to the parents so the best possible childcare can be found for your child.

Various activities are carried out within the setting, during these activities photos are sent to parents and a diary of activities is kept.

Should a child need any additional support I would discuss possibilities and options with parents or guardians. I would monitor the childs progress and source additional relevant training if it was required.

I would implement a target plan, and with the parents permission obtain support from other proffessional services or settings

Various activities are carried out within the setting, during these activities photos are sent to parents and a diary of activities is kept. Progress assessments are completed and if these identify any issues they will be raised with the parent or guardian.

Activities planned for the time the child is in my setting will be selected to ensure that all children of all abilities can be involved.

Children with mobility issues will have difficulty moving around this setting.

During a school or setting transition I will work with the parents and child with any issues that may be identified with a child's needs. During this time I will plan activities with the child that helps them feel more confident with their transition.

As a childminder I am aware of Local Inclusion Forum Teams (LIFT) and how to access their services.

I will evaluate my provision to ensure all children are fully supported with their learning and development. If required, I direct the parents to appropriate additional support to assist in the progress in the child's development.
