Notes

We are conveniently located in the Community Centre in Wilmott Place, and close to Eastry C of E Primary School. We provide full daycare for children aged 0 to 5 years old and Out of School and Holiday Care for children aged 5 to 11 years old.

Our nurturing 'home from home' environment is carefully designed to encourage children to learn independently in a safe, secure environment that promotes equality and values diversity. Our building is purpose built with access to 4 outdoor play areas. We have an experienced and skilled team of staff and our manager holds Early Years Professional Status. Healthy home cooked meals are provided for the children using fresh ingredients to promote healthy eating.

We provide a range of fun activities, resources, and experiences to meet children's individual needs and interests. Children have the opportunity to explore our outdoor area all year round and take part in physical activity, being adventurous in safety.

Special Needs Support

Upon admission, parents are asked to complete "All about me" booklet which allows us to gain an insight to your child. Through settling in sessions we have the opportunities to discuss your child's likes, dislikes and interets so we can plan to meet their individual needs accordingly.

Once your child has settled with us, we assess their starting points using "Development Matters". Assessments are carried out 3 times a years and will highlight any strengths and difficulties you child may have. Using this information we can put  target plans into place to provide additional support where needed.

'Progress Check at 2' is a statutory assessment carried out at 2 years of age. This can usually indicate whether a child may need additonal support in a particular area of development.

Our Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinator (SENCo) works in partnership with parents and liasing with other agencies to provide the most appripriate support to help all children achieve to their full potential.

Your child's Keyperson will be involved right from the start, building a positive relationship with your child and you. There are lots of ways to feel involved:

  • informal daily contact at drop off  / collection
  • online learning journeys where parents can not only see observations but contribute own photos, observations and comments
  • parents evenings
  • additional meetings to discuss target plans or any additional support
  • opportunities to meet at your request throughout the year

If your child has been receiving targeted support therough target plans, your child's keyperson or Senco may discuss with you the need to refer for more specialist support. This may include Speech and Language Therapy.

Our Senco, with your premission can also attend a Early Years Lift (Local Inclusion Forum Team) meeting and discuss the needs of your child. If this is accepted, a specialist teacher would then visit the setting to provide guidance and support for your child.

Staff attend reguarly training and our Senco attends Senco Forums to keep updated on current changes and developments with regards to SEND.

Your child's keyperson will invite you to parents meetings to discuss your childs progress. This is also a great opportunity to discuss any concerns you may have.

We use online learning journeys for all children which parents have access to. using these observations we carried out assessments three times per year. we are also required to carry out Progress Check at 2. This progress check can also be taken to your Health Visitor when they carry out their Two Year Old progress check.

Our practice is inclusive and enables all children to participate with all activities.

At staff meetings we will discuss how activites can be adapted to meet the needs of your child.

Our setting is purpose built on one level and is able to be accessed with a wheelchair. We also have double doors opening on to our outdoor area.

Where possible we will make any resonable adjustments to meet the needs of children, parents and staff.

My transition report will be passed on to my new school, with consent.

During the summer term we focus on prepararion for school. We provide a range of activities about starting school,  lots of dressing up clothes of local school uniforms, go on local walks to visit the school and the teachers from the school visit us here too.

Our Local Childrens Centre also arrange a visit to read books about starting school with us.
