Hextable Village Pre-School

Hextable Village Preschool is a community run preschool. It has been established since 1989 and it has continued to grow and prosper
into a secure, safe and stimulating environment for children aged 2 – 5 years.

We plan and prepare our activities according to the needs and interests of every child, this is under guidance of the Early Years Foundation stage. We put a strong emphasis on our outdoor environment and utilise the Heritage gardens as much as possible to enhance the children’s learning with forest school type activities.

Description

We support children and parents who have special educational needs. If your child is making insufficient progress we will follow our policy on SEND and follow the graduated approach. The SENCO and Key person are there to support you and refer to other agencies. The SENCO has access to gain lots of different support through the regular specialist meetings and the specialist teaching service.

Special Needs Support

We carry out regular observations and assessments. We plan activities around the child's development. We then identify any additional needs the child may have.

When a child is identified as having an additional need, the key person and the SENCO work with the parents to write a targeted plan for the child.

Each child has unique interests and needs and their keyperson will recognise what they are through observations, progress checks and learning journey. They will have planning implemented especially for them with the EYFS as guidance.

Key person and SENCO work closely with parents to ensure they are involved at all stages of the assessment, planning, provision and review of their children's special education including all decision making processes. We provide parents with information on local sources of support and advice e.g. Local Offer, Information, Advice and Support Service. We liaise and work with other external agencies to help improve outcomes for children with SEN.

Close working relationships between key persons, SENCO and parents. We adhere to our administering medicine policy. We have systems in place for referring children for further assessment.

We use Tapestry - each parent can view their child’s observations and assessments via a secure and confidential log in and we welcome parents to add activities that the child has enjoyed at home, so together we create a portfolio of your child’s learning during their preschool years. Any additional paperwork is updated on a regular basis.

We plan our activities to include all children. We would research in advance if we were arranging an outing.

We have an entrance ramp through the front door however unfortunately we don't have any other facilities for wheelchair users or children with mobility difficulties.

Transition meetings are carried out for all children.

The SENCO attends regular SEN forums to keep up to date with information and to channel advice and opportunities for SEN specialist referral meetings. We hold regular staff meetings to discuss and assess effectiveness of SEN provision.

You can contact the setting by phone, email or a Facebook page to come in and have look around. The manager or deputy will be able to answer any questions and provide you with an application form should you wish to apply for a place. Once the form is returned we will contact you to provide a date for a settling in session for your child to meet the key person and fill out some paperwork.

We have an open door policy. We have complaints procedure and complaints are dealt with on an individual need basis. We send out surveys.
