Care4kids Childcare

Nursery

Care4kids Childcare has been created to be a homely environment, mirroring homelife. The owner Rachelle has a background in childminding, where she spent many years seeing the benefits of a warm home environment and how this nutures children enhancing their learning and development. We endeavour to make the setting a tranquil and calm space for the children using soft lighting, plants, natural and authentic resources, helping the children to feel relaxed with a sense of belonging. We have a team of passionate and motivated staff providing children with a wonderful and inviting opportunity to get involved with activities. We believe that a calming atmosphere gives children the opening to learn rather than play in an over stimulating environment with bold colours which can become loud and overwhelming.

We are lucky enough to have access to our outside area in all weathers and encourage the setting to open the door to outside play as soon as the children settle into the nursery day. We have a fully loaded playpark just meters from the nursery and a fantastic nature reserve where our children are beginning to attend 'Forest School'.

At Care4kids Childcare Rachelle  spent time studying for their Early Years Degree which has influenced our ethos, allowing us to make recent changes to the setting. We have moved away from plastic toys providing children with real resources to play with, encouraging the children to use their imagination and to understand how to care and manage resources carefully and safely. We provide a high quality nursery with highly skilled and qualified staff. Our Ethos is inspired by some Educational pioneers including the Reggio Emilia Approach with a small touch of Montessori.

Local Offer

Special Needs Support

When a child initially starts with us we provide settling in sessions where the key person can begin to build a bond with your child, learn their likes and dislikes and their individual needs. What they are capable of and what they may need support with. Parents are asked to complete a questionnaire to determine where the child’s starting points are in their development.

We have a system where every child is allocated a key person. The key person is responsible for tracking your child’s progress and planning activities accordingly. We use ‘in the moment planning’ which plans around your child’s individual needs, interests and in relation to their progress. Termly reports are completed on every child to identify any support that may be required.

We have a nursery SENCO (Special education needs Co-Ordinator) that will have relevant training and information to support the key person, children and families to ensure individual needs are met.

Our Senco is Amber Gilbert. Her role is to work closely with the key person to provide resources, experiences and activities, which are relevant to your child’s individual needs and ensure inclusiveness of all children. Personal plans will be provided for children in need of extra support, which are based around their individual needs and interests.

The SENCO will liaise with other professionals and outside agencies (with parents consent) to gain further advice in supporting each individual child. The SENCO and key person will work together to ensure targets and strategies are implemented. The key person, SENCO and the parents will regularly review and update personal plans.

Parents and carers are given lots of opportunities to have involvement in their child’s learning and development. The key person will work together with parents and carers to ensure that every child’s learning is supported.

Children who need extra support are given a targeted or personalised plan and this is reviewed/updated every 6 weeks with key person, SENCO and parents/carers.

For those children who need extra support, and are on a targeted or personalised plan, additional targets are set and worked towards following the best practise guidance.

Care4Kids also work closely and liaise with other professionals for help and guidance with best supporting each and every child’s individual needs.

As stated above, we use the Best Practise Guidance Handbook for teaching strategies. We also liaise with outside agencies and professionals for strategies.

Care4kids work together with other agencies and professionals to set additional targets personalised to the individual child. These are recorded on personalised plans and reviewed and updated every 6 weeks with key person, Senco and parents/carers. Care4Kids also welcome outside agencies and professionals who may be working with your child, into the setting to see the child in their nursery setting and liaise with their key person.

We have a system where every child is allocated a key person. The key person is responsible for tracking your children’s progress and planning activities accordingly. We use ‘in the moment planning’ which plans around children’s individual needs, interests and in relation to their progress. Termly reports are completed on every child to identify any support that may be required.

These reports are shared with parents, who are encouraged to add comments. Parents are also encouraged to have their input when their child is a Focus child. Parents can share their thoughts, concerns and what they would like us to be working towards with their child. Staff will also work towards targets set from their progress tracker. This is a good opportunity to really focus on a child’s learning and development.

Care4kids are very passionate about including all children in the setting. Trips, activities and everyday tasks are adapted to include all children. We have an equal opportunities policy available for your viewing that we work closely to. It is the role of the key person and the Senco to work together to ensure children with additional needs or SEND are included.

Care4kids has wheelchair access into the building and facilities inside the building to accommodate children with mobility difficulties/ wheelchair users.

We work closely with our local Primary schools. A Transition Report will be shared with you and with the school, if needed a Transition Meeting will be arranged with the school’s reception class teacher and the school’s Senco. Teachers are invited into our setting prior to your child leaving our setting and starting their new school/setting.

Our setting works closely with outside professionals and keep up to date with relevant training, to ensure we are providing the most effective and up to date care. We hold regular meetings with parents and attend LIFT forums for support and guidance.

Please contact the manager – Stacey Smith or the owner – Rachelle Riley.

Spaces are subject to availability, however we do have a waiting list we can add you to, should we not have any spaces currently.

These points are all covered in our Policies and Procedures documentation; these are updated regularly and are available for parents to read within the setting.

Parents are always welcomed and invited to leave their feedback, including complaints and compliments either face to face, or via our parents Facebook page or their Babysdays profile.
