Eco Shed - Woodwork and recycled arts (bemix)

Eco Shed is a woodworking and upcycling arts project in Sittingbourne.

We work alongside people with learning difficulties/disabilities and/or autism.  We support people to learn skills and develop their own ideas in wood work, recycling, upcycling and creative practical art.  We also support people to learn skills in business and social enterprise as part of the wider project.

Eco Shed is based in a modern workshop which enables us to make products to sell on the open market. Any profit we make is reinvested back into the project. We regularly display and sell our products at fairs and promotional events around Kent and also work in partnership with a number of local organisations and community groups.

We are passionate about recycling. All of the products made are from recycled materials. We recycle paper, card, plastic, glass and tins which are separated into bins and recycled. Waste is weighed and recorded and can be found on our progress reports. We feel strongly about raising awareness about ethical and environmental issues and have worked together to produce works of art which not only are made from recyclable materials but also benefit local wildlife. The items also produce a beautiful backdrop of colour in the garden. We have displayed these works of art in various locations showing that our products are creative, beneficial for the environment and everyone can be involved.

Eco Shed is part of bemix (formerly Skillnet Group); we believe everyone should work together equally within the community.

This project runs within the Day Opportunities framework, Lot 2, Promoting Independence
