Town Work Play

Town Work Play is situated in the historic market town of Faversham, within the secure site of The Abbey School.

We’re a full-day care, year-round, all-weather nursery.

Sister nursery to Farm Work Play, our aim is to give children a chance to take part in liberating experiences that are harder to come by in modern classrooms. We’re all about spontaneous, unstructured, and risky play. Space to move and explore is important to us, and so is fresh air, free play, and exposure to the natural world.

We give children the opportunity to grow up with a sense of freedom; cultivating their independence and confidence, whilst establishing a deep connection to their natural surroundings.

Come rain or shine, we nurture the curiosity and wonder that children naturally possess, at a pace that’s as individual as they are.

Your children feel supported, loved, and protected in our home-from-home atmosphere.

So here we are, a town nursery with a rural feel, where free-range kids can learn and play together.

We hope you’ll join our growing Town community.

There are 3 Government funding schemes available.

Free for 2 funding:

570 hours of funded childcare is available for qualifying families from the term following  a child’s 2nd birthday. This can be taken as 15hrs per week over 38 weeks or 12hrs per week over 48 weeks.  Subject to eligibility and availability.

Universal Funding

570 hours of funded childcare is automatically available for all families in England, from the start of the school term following your child’s 3rd birthday. (January, April, September)

You can choose to use your 570 hours over 38 weeks (term time) at 15 hours per week or stretch those over 48 weeks at 12 hours per week.

Extended Funding – up to 24 Hours per week:

An additional 570 hours of funded childcare is available for eligible working families in England, from the start of the next school term following your child’s 3rd birthday. (January, April, September). A family eligible for extended funding and using their universal funding will have a total of 1,140hrs over the year.

Please note that Town Work Play is a year-round setting that is open 51 weeks a year. Families accessing universal and extended funding, can opt for Term Time or Stretched hours.

To confirm if you are eligible you will need to register for the funding through the Government website before the start of the next school term. You will receive an 11-digit code which you must provide the nursery for us to process your claim.

To keep your extended hours funded childcare place, you need to revalidate your details every 3 months, (please register for the text alert), if you do not revalidate your details it may lead to your funding being withdrawn and you will be liable for the full cost of the childcare.

The 2020/2021 KCC funded hourly rate is:

2 year old – £5.18 per hour

3/4 year old – £4.14 per hour.
