Description

I provide support to young chldren who have special educational needs or disability. Please see below for my Local Offer.

Special Needs Support

I have recently undated my knowledge on SEND to ensure I can confidently meet the individual needs of children in my care.  Planned activities and routines form the backbone of my ethos encouraging children to participate in activities listed in the facilities section above and routine that included laying the table in preparation for lunch and snacks.

As a childminder I  tailored all activities to meet the needs of all individuals to ensure that they receive the most from their participation.  The playroom setting is painted a neutral colour to encourage calmness, security and a sense of well-being.  The space is also fully adaptable with movable furniture and soft covering underfoot to lessen noise and minimise sensory-overload.

Communicating with parents is a vary important part of Childminding and is a key factor in offering effective childminding services.  Communication is a corner-stone in the service that I provide, imparting information on a regular basis to ensure that parents are kept  up-to-date with daily activities and routines that children participate in.

I complete the Progress Check at  2 which provides information regarding the childs development and this will be shared with parents.

I also speak with parents at drop off and pick up and send weekly updates on our activities with ideas how to support children's learning at home.

All planned activities and routines will include communication and a language-rich environment that is adapted for each individual child in my care. For example, I have a range of reading books that are used to explore language and encourage new vocabulary.

The setting I provide underpins the personal, social and emotional development for all children in my care.  This is achieved  through creating strong, warm and supportive relationships which encourages children understand and explores their own feelings and that of others

Children in my care will have the opportunity to develop their physical activities to include fine and gross motor skills with the facilities that have been listed above. We also regularly visit parks and soft play areas.

All activities and routines are adapted to meet the individual childs needs to maintain full inclusion. Activities are a mixture of adult and child lead.

If a child requires additional support outside of my setting, a referral can be made with the parents consent to the appropriate organisation.

Verbal daily updates will be given to all parents at the end of each session.

Weekly reports that include photographs (with parents consent) are privately shared with individual parents.

Regular outings to toddler groups, the park and local attractions take place and health and safety risk assessments are revised and updated regularly to ensure all children can participate.

There is a step at the front door and a small downstairs bathroom. Access to the garden is via a step.

The resource I used to support children at this stage is 'Getting Ready for School Checklist', Twinkl.  This is includes a range of 'I can...'.   statements that are used to record progress.

I aim to keep parents regular informed and encourage parents to give feedback on a regular basis.

Please contact,

Melanie Farquhar.

The complained procedure is outlined in the policy given to all parents.

Parents are given questionnaires to enable them to give constructive and complementary feedback at all times.
