Amherst Court Care Home

At Amherst Court we work to create a welcoming atmosphere in which residents enjoy activities, go on outings and make friends with other residents and staff.

At the heart of our home is our Philosophy of Care, the Eden Alternative, where staff encourage social interaction, engagement and work towards the eradication of loneliness and boredom.

Our home provides 24-hour care and support for people living with dementia, where our team of qualified and attentive staff focus on the individual needs of the residents.

The modern design provides well equipped, bright en-suite bedrooms to support person centred care. The names of the suites follow a nautical theme – Charlotte, Trafalgar, Valiant and Apollo.

Other facilities include the cafe on the ground floor, providing a meeting place to enjoy a drink or a light lunch with family and friends.

There is a public computer available for any relatives visiting the home, or residents using it to browse or communicate with loved ones.

The beauty salon `Ship Shape´ is situated on the ground floor where you can treat yourself to a new hair style or beauty treatment.

Residents can visit the pretty courtyard garden to while away a peaceful afternoon, or join in with the daily programme of activities throughout the home. The minibus also gives residents the opportunity for day trips out to one of the many local places of interest.

Amherst Court provides a safe, warm and friendly environment with support for daily tasks such as washing, cleaning and laundry.

Amherst Court delivers a respite care service allowing a crucial break for carers, for just a few hours or for several weeks. This offers family carers the chance to go on holiday or simply have some well-earned time off.

Choosing a care home

Understanding the type of care you need is an important first step in finding a care home that is right for you. Searching for the right care home is not something any of us do every day. Often when the time does come, it can be quite stressful for all involved. Whether one of our homes is right for you or not, we are here to provide guidance. With this in mind we have plenty of useful information you can access to help you with making the right choice.

Dementia care

We provide specialist dementia care in all of our care homes. We understand the specific challenges faced by people living with dementia and ensure our care teams are able to provide professional and compassionate care and support to both residents and their loved ones.

Home Care & Support

Avante Care & Support provides home care and support into peoples homes. Offering assistance with daily living, enabling individuals to maintain independent and active lives where possible. Our compassionate and fully trained staff provide support from 30 minute visits through to live-in care to achieve this outcome.

Residential care

Our residential care homes provide a safe, warm and friendly environment with support for daily tasks such as washing, cleaning and laundry. In our homes, we work to create a welcoming atmosphere in which residents enjoy activities, go on outings and make friends with other residents. At the heart of every home is the Philosophy of Care, where social interaction and engagement is encouraged and boredom is eradicated.

Nursing care

We provide nursing care for individuals with specialist requirements in our care home Puddingstone Grange in Greenwich. Our nursing care team are fully qualified and have the specialist expertise required to care for residents’ varying medical needs and requirements. People who come to us may be living with conditions such as Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis or Motor Neurone Disease; others may have suffered a brain injury as a result of an accident or require ventilator care.

End-of-life care

We firmly believe that everyone deserves dignity and respect as they approach the end of their life and we provide sensitive and compassionate end-of-life care through many of our care homes.

Day Care

Our day care service provides a friendly and stimulating home-away-from-home for people who are still living at home, but who may need some additional support during the day. Many of our centres provide care for people with dementia, physical frailty or simply those who want a more active social environment. Our day centres give people the opportunity to socialise with friends and engage in a range of activities while their family carers have the peace of mind of knowing they are safe and cared for.

Respite and convalescent care

We understand how difficult it can be for families or friends providing ongoing care. For this reason it’s important to occasionally find time for yourself. Our respite care services provide a crucial break for carers, either for just a few hours with a visit to one of our care homes or day centres or an overnight stay in our care homes for a few days or a few weeks. This offers family carers the chance to do daily chores, go on holiday or simply have some well-earned time off.
