We support all children between the ages of 3 months to 11 years providing additional support where necessary.

Special Needs Support

Staff are key person to a group of children with whom they have bonded with, they record observations from starting points and on their online Learning Book, assessing the childrens progress over periods of time. If key person feels their child is not developing/progressing in any area then they seek help/advice from the inhouse SENco, who works alongside parents and key person to set targets to ensure the child gets the additional support they need. If any parent feels their child needs additional support or has any concerns regarding their childs development, they can speak to any member of staff who will put them into contact with the SENco and key person. If the targets that are set are not being achieved or showing any signs of improvement, the SENco will seek advice from outside agencies. We accept all children with any additional needs/disabilities providing we can meet their needs and give them the best care.

Each child has a key worker, whom is responsible for over seeing a child's development. They will consult with parents/families to enable a holistic approach to providing the best care and education for the individual child. All members of staff have access to the child's next steps via their online learning journal/daily planning sheets; this is so all staff are aware and can support where needed throughout the day. Greenview has an online learning journal which allows staff/managers to have full control over all the children's achievements, next steps, assessments and parent input to help us achieve and evaluate our cohort planning. This allows us to review and support any group that may be disadvantaged and allow us to narrow the gap between these groups (boys/girls)

A key person observes a child, looks at their development and plans accordingly, this being different for all children. This will help all children to reach their individual goals within a set period allowing a steady speed of progression

In addition to our normal observations/planning/assessments, which is done on Learning Book for parents to see, we also carry out regular parents evenings to go over the childs development and progression allowing parents to discuss their child in more detail and any concerns they may have. Greenview prides itself on the verbal handover we give everyday, we also provide parents with an emailed daily report on how their child has been and what they have achieved in their day. Greenview holds out regular training, which we offer to parents and carers at a reduced rate, this allows parents to feel involved and understand how we run day to day and why. Training in the past has been Makaton, First Aid and EYFS training. On a child's Learning Book, it enables a parent to input their own pictures and comments but also see how their child has progressed and comment on their next steps.

Greenview nusery has contact where needed with social workers and specialist teachers. We take their advice and support as up most importance alongside parents. Greenview nursery ask staff and children whom have medication or additional medical needs to complete a care plan which allows staff to have a more in depth knowledge on their medication, condition, care and lifestyle; this can include, signs and symptoms, emergency medication, daily medication and emergency procedures. All medicines are recorded via our paperwork/Nursery Genie gaining written signature to give consent.

Greenview nursery has a behaviour policy, and monitors behaviour closely, looking at When, What, How at each incident to monitor any patterns or reasoning to certain behaviour and work alongside parents and carers.

We believe every child has a voice by using circle times, small groups or adult interaction we collate their likes, dislikes and ideas, which we add to our planning, staff meetings and future events.

A child's progression is monitored on their Learning Book, staff have level 3 or higher qualifications which allows them to have a good understanding of child development and how to support individual children. 2 members of staff have SENco training, all staff have Basic Safeguarding with over 6 members of staff having Advanced Safeguarding Lead training. All staff have Paediatric/Basic First Aid.

Greenview is inclusive of all children, and adapts trips, activities, visits and resources to enable all children to have full access and their needs are being met i.e. Forest School is carried out by trained Forest School leaders who differentiate their activities based on each child.

Dance is carried out by a trained dance teacher, who uses different techniques and group size to support all children

Greenview Nursery does not make any child take part in anything they do not wish to do however encouragement and staff support is always on hand

Greenview is on a flat surface and there are no stairs. Toilets in the building are large and there is a disabled toilet too. Every doorway is wide and tall and adaptable for every mobility equipment. The garden is also on a flat surface in the front and back with concrete or safety surface.

If a child/family has English as an additional language we always try to learn some words from the first language as a way of making the child and family feel comfortable, we have visual aids up of languages so adults can practice certain words.

If your child is due to start school in September then there is various ways we help the transition, we go to the school for a little play session on the minibus and we help the children to feel comfortable, we also hold parents meetings and offer for the teacher of the class to come to the nursery to see the children and how they interact.

If your child is moving a setting then we have a meeting with the new nursery/setting this can be on the phone or in person telling them information about your child to your consent and parents are invited to join the meeting too if they so wish

When your child is due to start Greenview, we offer free of charge play visits, these can range from 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on the child and how they settle. Parents are always advised to stay close as if there is an issue we can grab them. The child will get a box which their shoes are to go in and are told which peg they will have, they do not have a picture on their peg until they have started and bonded with their key person as this is done up to 2 weeks from their starting date. All children are closely monitored and assessments are done 12 weekly, if their is an area that the child is not progressing in then targets are put into place and meetings can be held with the teachers of the new school or setting explaining this is why. Assessments are passed onto new settings and schools and general information on each child i.e. behaviour, toileting, self help skills.

If you wish for your child to start at Greenview, visit our website or phone us and ask for Emma Sharp - Manager or Emma Flood - Deputy Manager, they will be able to guide the parent/carer and for details on booking a show around the nursery and play visits.

A child may recieve additional funding based on their needs; i.e. SENIF; the parents and SENco will have a meeting to discuss how much money is being recieved and how Greenview can spend it and what to spend it on which will benefit that child

Greenview nursery values parents and carers feedback, we gather this feedback via Learning Book, Nursery Genie, emails and questionnaires. We have a suggestion box in the foyer for parents/carers. Greenview feeds back the gathered information to staff and owner at staff meetings which allows us as a team to evaluate and suggest alternative methods. The final decision is made as a managerial/business decision but heavily relies on parents, staff and children's views, comments and feedback
