Special Needs Support

We are very passionate about early intervention.

We have a variety of different games and a robust SEN system to encourage children to practice skills they are finding difficult with referral process to link the child with the right agency to give the parent and child clear information and point them in the right direction for help.

Any support that may be needed for any child will first begin with a conversation between the keyperson and parent.  We will speak to the parent about how we are going to practice the skill, give parent techniques or resources for them to be able to continue the practising at home.  Through observation, we will gather any evidence we need to refer the child to the correct agency and then through our LIFT system speak to the SEN Advisor who will submit help to the according agencies

Every staff member is qualified including two Early Years Teachers.  There is also a wealth of experience, so that we are able to differentiate the curriculum to the child's individual needs and interests

A personalised/Target plan will be created and shared with parents to explain the different strategies the keyperson and child will be working on

All parents are involved with any activities we are undertaking with children with additional needs.  Often resources are borrowed so that parents can continue the learning at home eg Clever fingers packs with little activities so that the children can practice fine motor muscles

All additional needs are catered to each individual child

We have targeted and personalised plans for children with SEND with strategies and SMART targets for the keyperson to work with

We have care plans for children with medical needs providing personal care and administration of medicines

Every term we plot the children's progress on a Progress Tracker so that we can see if he/she has made progress.  Should child need additional support in an area it is then able to be identified and either used for LIFT gaining additional support alongside the keyperson practising and planning additional activities.  Progress Tracker are shared at parents evening.

We look at every activity and differentiate it so that every child has access to it

We are all on one level there are no stairs/steps to deal with

We have a good transition policy.  The different uniform is played with together with welcome packs made for book corner.

Separate meetings are held with the Teacher and keyperson so that the Teacher has knowledge of them prior to meeting

Keyperson and child visit school to play

Reports and Progress Trackers are send to the school

Parents of children with SEN are very involved with the SENCO/keyperson on every element.  We ask for their feedback and evaluation

Any transitions that a child will be undertaking will be managed very carefully, separate meeting with school/setting, visits to school with keyperson

Please contact Sian Scovell (Manager)

Feedback from parents comes from a variety of different modes

- Parents have an app called Tapestry where they can follow their child's observations and progress and feedback on anything

- We have a parents evening every term where we value feedback

- Every year a questionaire goes out to parents asking how they feel about the preschool, settling in, snacks, how they feel about staff knowledge, do they feel their child is safe

We have a compliants procedure and policy
