A carer is someone of any age who provides unpaid support to a family member or friend who could not manage without help. The person cared for or supported could be a relative, partner, friend or neighbour who is ill, frail, disabled or has mental health or substance misuse problems. Involve recognises and values the contribution that carers make; not only to the life and well being of the person they care for, but also to the wider community. They want to support carers in their caring role. Involve Community Navigation for Carers is a point of contact and support for anyone living in West Kent who cares for a relative, partner or friend. They provide:
- emotional and practical support
- advice
- information
- free ‘Caring with Confidence’ courses
- peer support groups
- a wide range of free activity groups
- newsletters
They offer statutory Carers Assessments, and can register Carers with the free Kent Carers Emergency Card scheme.
