We are a children's day nursery in Shepherd Street, Northfleet.  Our building is a two story building with a large garden.  We enrol children from age 2 years to 5 years old.  We open from 9:00 -16:00 Monday to Friday during Term time.  There is on road parking on a first come basis.

We are situated in 56-58 Shepherd Street, Northfleet, DA11 9PT, which is a two storey building with a large garden. Our opening times are from 9:00 to 16:00. We are a open plan nursery where all age groups mix together and are put into their age group for activities.  We take children from 2 years until 5 years old.  We take children who are privately paying; those on the Universal Entitlement ie. 15 hours per week as well as those on the 2 year old funding.  We also offer the extended hours i.e. 30 hours.

Special Needs Support

We observe and assess children's progress using the EYFS.  If a child is assessed as needing support, the child's key-person speak to the Setting SENCO and the SENCO will arrange to speak to the parent, get the necessary permission for referral for support from other Agencies.  Parents can also inform us directly.

  • Our SENCO liaises with outside Agencies e.g. Specialist teacher, Early Help, Inclusion and Quality advisers from The Education People
  • We use visual supports and some basic Makaton for our children
  • We have quiet spaces available and sensory resources are also available 
  • Close working relationship between SENCo, Key-Person and Parents
  • The SENCo monitors and oversees the Key-Person's planning
  • We offer information to Parents on what support they can get from other Agencies 
  • if needed, we make referrals to other Agencies e.g. Specialist teachers, speech and language therapies, our Local Inclusion forum
  • Carry out regular observations and monitoring
  • we track children's progress using the EYFS
  • Assessment feedback through direct conversation/telephone consultations and written reports 
  • Review of targeted and personalised plans
  • our resources and activities are accessed by all children in the Setting, irrespective of ability
  • We will offer support and adapt resources as a child requires it
  • Regular review with parents, Staff and SENCO
  • Evaluation of planning to see if it suits the needs of the child
  • We carry out risk assessments on trips and will put things in place for any child requiring it
  • Staff are aware of inclusion and adapt as necessary. 
  • Our building is two Storey with small group activities and lunch taking place on the first floor.
  • We have stairs leading upstairs with handrails.  We do not have lifts or ramps.
  • On street disabled parking is available 
  • Relevant paperwork is sent to the child's school with Parental consent.
  • Meeting with school and setting SENCO.
  • Schools visit our setting.
  • Activities are planned in preparation for school
  • Transition support from Specialist teacher if they are involved in the child's care
  • Our SENCO attends the SENCO Forum Meetings, LIFT meetings, Training
  • Regular Staff meetings and feedback to staff
  • Staff regularly attend training
  • Staff are updated as and when new information is available
  • regular updates of our SEND Policy as and when needed

  • The Manager and Deputy Manager are always available to deal with complaints, compliments or just to talk in general
  • We have a complaints procedure and this can be done using the various routes e.g. faced to face, telephone, email etc
