Six Bells Children’s Centre IMPORTANT PLEASE READ
Over the first few weeks of February you will notice scaffolding going up at the Six Bells as we undertake essential repairs to the roof. It was originally due to be completed over last year’s summer holiday but due to unforeseen circumstances this did not happen, until now. This work is scheduled to take 8 weeks (possibly longer), and whilst we are ensuring that services are minimally affected by this work it will mean a few slight changes during this period;
Tiddlers to Toddlers – (Monday afternoons) This group will not run during this time and unfortunately we are unable to host it anywhere else for this time. We will let you know when it will start again, as soon as possible.
Baby Hub – (Friday mornings) The Workshops and Breastfeeding Group will continue at same times 9.30am-10.30am. The Health Clinic Drop-in will change times from 10.30am-11.30am. This will be from 14th February and we will keep you informed when this will go back to normal hours.
The outside play area will not be in use for some of this time and the Sensory Room will be unavailable to book until after the completion of the works.
Please be assured that your health and safety is paramount to us and we are making these changes to ensure your experience at the Centre is not affected. So please bear with us during this time.
We will keep you up to date on Facebook with the progress and when the Sensory Room is available again to book and we will post regular updates as reminders regarding the changes.
Many thanks for your patience and understanding during this timeVicky O’Riordan – Children’s Centre Delivery Manager
Newington Children’s Cente Update! Matt Dunkley, Kent County Council’s Corporate
Director for Children, Young People and Education, said: “At approximately 4.30am today (Wednesday, February 5) there was a fire at Newington
Children’s Centre in Thanet. The fire has caused substantial damage to buildings and both thechildren’s centre and the Growing TogetherNursery, which is part of the Thanet Early YearsProject, will be closed until further notice. Someactivities will be held at alternative locations whileothers will unfortunately have to be cancelled. Staff will be putting a sign on the gate soon with contact details so families can call for the latest information, or they can check the Thanet Children's Centres page on Facebook for updates. They can also contact the Children and Families information Service for information about alternative provision by calling 03000 412323, emailing email@example.com or visiting https://www.kent.gov.uk/education-and-children/childcare-and-pre-school.
Newington Community Primary School is not affected by the fire and is open. The cause of the fire is beinginvestigated but it is not being treated as suspicious. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Kent Fire and Rescue Service for their work at the scene, as well as staff for the professional way they have dealt with this incident. We appreciate this will be a difficult time for children, families and staff and we willendeavour to reopen the children’s centre as soon as it is safe to do so.”
