The choir has performed in highly renowned venues both in this country and abroad.
Audition to join Kent Youth Choir
For ages 14-21, the Kent Youth Choir meet three times a year for residential courses in each major holiday and perform in end of course concerts across the county. Entry to the choirs is by audition – please contact Valerie Cordina at firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like further information.
A mix of residential courses and workshop days are held three times a year during the winter, spring and summer holiday periods. These courses provide an invaluable setting for focused vocal rehearsal and study but also provide a creative social environment where singers can meet like-minded people and take part in peer directed musical activities.
The Kent Choir study and perform music from a wide variety of periods and genres from J. S. Bach, to Faure, to Rogers and Hammerstein. Singers will have the opportunity to gain understanding of choral repertoire, experience different musical cultures, sing in different languages and sing in up to sixteen-part harmony.
Kent Youth Choir caters for a range of singers, from those with a good sense of pitch and rhythm, experience of singing in harmony and some degree of sight-singing ability to advanced students with previous choral experience and sight-singing ability. Members are selected by audition.
Many of our members have gone on to study music at college and university and some have enjoyed success as solo performers. Most have followed careers in areas other than music but continue to enjoy music-making as an important leisure activity. Under the guidance of leading choral conductors and vocal specialists, members are coached in developing their vocal skills and improving their overall musicianship.
