Special Needs Support

We work closely with our parents and SENCO to ensure we identify and support children with additional needs or SEND. If you have concerns, you will need to speak to the Nursery manager or with our FLO in the office who will be able to answer any questions you might have.

Your child will be assigned a key worker when they start Nursery and this person will be your first point of call. There is also a Nursery manager who oversees all of the children who is also available should you need any information. Nursery staff feedback to parents daily and always make themselves available for formal or informal discussions with parents.

The Nursery staff are very experienced and well equipped to adapt learning to suit all children's needs.

Your child's key worker will work closely with your child and relay information at the end of each day. Nursery staff work closely with all of the children and the Nursery manager also ensures all children's needs are being met in a variety of ways. We also have a SENCO who can help support Nursery staff where necessary.

This can be discussed the Nursery manager and/or SENCO before your child starts Nursery.

Our Nursery uses Tapestry - an online program that is very securely protected. Staff are able to share notes and pictures about your child's day and you can access this via your mobile phone or computer and reply/ add your own photos/comments. Tapestry is only accessible with written permission and parents are encouraged to be an active part of their child's learning.

Your child's key worker and Nursery staff will work with you to ensure your child is comfortable, happy and feels safe to learn.

There is a ramp in and out of the Nursery. All needs will be discussed before your child starts Nursery.

Dartford Primary Academy's Nursery is attached to the infant side of the Primary school. You will need to apply but transition is usually a very successful time as children have explored the school and get to know some of the Reception staff and children. Nursery staff complete handovers for teachers on site and for new settings to ensure transition is smooth and successful.

If your child has additional needs and/or SEND, there will be plenty of opportunities to discuss with their key worker, the Nursery manager and our SENCO before they start Nursery to ensure the best possible start for your child.

Infant & Nursery Site

As always, Nursery staff are on hand to discuss any concerns or questions you might have and we encourage parents to build a relationship with our staff so we can work alongside each other. There is also the option to contact the school office to speak to the Principal, Vice Principal, SENCO, FLO or EYFS Lead.
