Special Needs Support
How does the setting identify children with additional needs or SEND?
I work closely with parents and care givers along with staff to identify needs of children who may need extra support.
How will I be informed / consulted about the ways in which my child is being supported?
I use a comprehensive system call abydays. This helps track where children are in their development. I track children three times a year to make sure they are reaching milestones and i also talk to parents daily about any issues which allows us to flag up issues quickly.
How will the setting adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for my child's needs?
We observe your child and plan and assess for your childs individual needs. we will work with other early years and health professionals to support your child and will continue CPD in order to help your child.
What teaching strategies does the setting use for children with additional needs or learning difficulties?
I have a large outdoor space which boosts both and concreted area for bikes and scooters and a large garden with swings and frames. all toys are at childs height and are rotated on regular basis. We offer a lot of messy play and free play and staff are all knowledgeable on the EYFS
What additional support does the setting provide for children with additional needs or SEND?
If your child is not making developments using a targeted learning plan we may discuss the need to refer to other services, your consent will be required for this.
How will the setting monitor my child's progress and how will I be involved in this?
Using trackers and discussions with parents we will be able to monitor your childs progression. We discuss together strategies being used and will implement them at the setting where needed
How do you ensure children with additional needs or SEND can be included in the same activities as other children, including trips?
When a child with additional needs attends the setting we will always be mindful of their needs when planning activities.
How accessible is the building for children with mobility difficulties / wheelchair users?
As a home based setting my front door is a standard width, i do have one step from hallway to the main room we use but could provide a ramp if needed,
How will you support my child's transition to a new setting or school?
We support your childs transition to school in a variety of ways, including a transition report. we will share (with consent) any other information you may feel is needed with the school.
How does the setting assess the overall effectiveness of its SEN provision and how can parents / carers take part in this evaluation?
We always are mindful of how we support children and what our provision can offer.
Who should I contact if I am considering registering for a place at the setting?
If you are interested in a space then please contact Megan Moore
What arrangements does the setting have for feedback from parents / carers, including compliments and complaints?
There is a complaints and compliments section on babys days. I also do a parent feedback form twice a year
