Denise Preskett

I am an Ofsted registered, fully qualified childminder, my name is Denise and I run Neezys Childcare, I am a divorced mother of two, Jack who is 25, all grown up and runs his own web development company from Staines on Thames and Ella, who is 14 going on 28 and soon to run the world! Both my children are adorable and of course my pride and joy. I also have a small dog called Spartacus who lives up to his name, rounding up the strays of the area with his friendly demeanour and handsome face. Also we now have Missy and 3 gerbils called Forrest, Smokey and Ronnie. Nearly 5 years ago Ella and I moved to our current house in Barming which we love, and it has allowed me to pursue a lifelong dream. I worked at a local dentist which I enjoyed for 14 years but, I have wanted for some years to set up my own childminding business which I am now doing! I look after children from birth to 7 years currently. As a working mother I've found out first-hand how hard it is to work and balance childcare, so much so that I decided to take the plunge and follow what my heart has truly always wanted to do, work with children. I love my family, friends and animals, I am told I have a very good sense of humour, let’s hope the little ones agree! My setting consists of a large two bed-roomed home with a secure enclosed garden. I believe there is a real benefit from outdoor learning where the children can both grow in confidence and enjoy the experiences that the outside world brings. As such I have a very brightly coloured garden, with a mud kitchen, chalkboards for the budding picasso's, sand water play and a play house and many outdoor games. There is also a section for growing and planting for the children. I have a large living room fully equipped for all 7 areas of learning and for all ages. I provide a safe, fun environment for the children and encourage all of them to flourish and reach their full potential. Thank you for taking the time to read my profile and please feel free to contact me with any questions or queries. I also have a wonderful assistant Claire who carries an advanced level 3 in childcare and has worked with children since she was 16, finishing recently after maternity leave as a room leader at a local nursery. She brings her own son Freddie with her and we feel very lucky to have her.

My Experience
As a mother of 28 years I have a vast range of experience. Jack my eldest was a special needs child, he had a severe speech and language comprehension disorder, I fought very hard to get him statemented for preschool of which I am very proud as the early intervention and help he received throughout his schooling has ensured he has grown up to be a successful, kind and articulate man, in fact you would never know there had ever been an issue if you met him. This gave me insight into the complexity of speech therapy and resolving the issues. I often look after my friends and others children (the joy of sleepovers! Haha) I am also registered with the Kent County Council childcare work force as fostering support worker. Lastly of course as a childminder!!
