Special Needs Support

Little Legs Nursery has a designated Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Co-Ordinator (SENCO) who works closely with all staff to help identify and support any additional needs.

Daily feedback is given to parents as well as meetings to discuss progress and plan how we will continue to support through targeted/personalised plans.

Every child is unique therefore we will work closely with the parents/carers as well as any outside agencies to decide on the most effective ways we can adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum to best support each individual childs needs.

Every child is unique therefore we will work closely with the parents/carers as well as any outside agencies to decide on the most effective ways we can adapt teaching strategies to best support each individual childs needs.

Our SENCO works closely with the child's parents/ carers, key worker and outside agencies to best support the child whilst at nursery.

Our qualified staff work closely with the children and get to know their key children very well. We use tapestry (an online learning journey which parents can log in and view as well as add to) to monitor and record wow moments and observations on what the children are doing/learning whilst at nursery. We have 2 parents evening a year where parents are invited in to speak to the key worker about the child's progress as well as termly sumative assessments which are shared with parents on tapestry. For any children with additional needs or SEND there will be more frequent meeting with the nursery SENCO to discuss progress and targets in more detail.

Our qualified and caring team ensure all children are given he opportunity to join in with activities. This may mean adapting an activity/ trip/ event slightly to ensure they can join in the fun. How we adapt an activity will depend on the child's additional/ SEND needs and we will work closely with the SENCO and parents to ensure all children are given the opportunity to access all learning opportunities provided at Little Legs.

Little legs will work with other settings to ensure your child gets the most out of which ever setting they attend. Whether they are joining us from another nursery or heading off to big school we will work closely with the other setting to ensure they have as much information to give your child the best possible start.

Just give us a call or drop us an email and the management team will be happy to help with any enquires you may have.

At little legs we want to ensure the children (and their families) get the best experience with us. We regularly as parents for feedback on how we are doing. This is done in a variety of ways such as sending home parent questionnaires, a suggestion box which is located in the lobby area or parents can review us on day nurseries.co.uk. The management are available throughout the day and easy to contact should you wish to give your feed back directly.
