Michelle Wilks

Hello,

I am a Ofsted registered childminder with 8 years experience, during this time I have cared for a variety of children with ages ranging from newborn to 12 years. I live with my husband, our 14 year old daughter and our dog Rye in the ME15 area of Maidstone.  Our house is a semi detached property with enough room to allow easy parking for safe drop off and collections.  We have a large rear garden that is accessible all year round and a play room situated at the end of my garden. The playroom has a self contained bathroom and kitchenette.

My setting has been designed to offer a "home from home", stimulating environment.  It is equipped with indoor and outdoor resources to allow a mixture of adult-led and child-initiated play. The play room is packed full of toys, books, puzzles for children of all ages to play, learn and develop in a safe, happy and fun environment. I am able to provide references from both current and previous parents/carers on the care I provide the for children in my setting upon request.

We love to be out and about and enjoy visiting various attractions in the local area. I use a 9 seater van to transport children in my care that is equipped with seats for all ages and fully insured. I also provide a school drop and collection service.  In addition to visiting local attractions we frequently visit our own allotment which is a 5 minute drive from our home. The allotment offers the children a plethora of activities ranging from vast space to dig, opportunities to plant and grow plants and flowers and look at local wildlife. There is also a hut onsite to warm up if required or eat lunch from.

My services include full and part time care for early years children, breakfast and after school and holiday care for school children for 48 weeks of the year. I am registered to offer the Free for 2 year funding and the 3 and 4 year olds funding of 15/30 hours.

Local Offer

Special Needs Support

When your child starts at my setting I will carry out a baseline assessment to identify their learning needs and style. Once your child has settled and I have attained sufficient knowledge on them I will start to adjust the setting to support their individual learning. I endeavour to incorporate their interests to assist them progress.

Parents are able to use the "What to expect when" government guidance to at any time to identify the development of their childs progress. I work closely with the childs parents to identify specific learning trends and on daily basis will inform them of their childs progress and any changing interests and behaviours.

I work with the document EYFS Statutory framework which allows me to track the progress and achievements of the child in the 7 areas of learning:- communication and language, personal, social and emotional development, physical development, literacy, mathematical, understanding the world and expressive arts and design.

Using this framework, I observe your child and assess and create next steps to contiually move your childs progress forward.
