Minster Playgroup

We have two sites to offer you, Minster Playgroup at Minster Primary School site and Minster Playgroup at the Abbey Hall.  We are able to offer childcare to children aged from 2 years and welcome everyone.

We are the Abbey site, we are a packaway setting based in the Abbey Church Village Hall, a short walk from our main Minster Playgroup site.

30 Hours Extended Entitlement

Across both sites we can offer 30 hours.  At our Minster site, we offer extended funding from 8.00 - 15.30, the maximum we will offer is 21/30 hours, however, you may wish to use both our sites and if you are entitled to receive 30 hours funding, you can access 12 hours at our Abbey site and 28 hours at our Minster site.  We offer a very flexible approach to childcare to suit the needs of our families.

 We are an inclusive setting, in the past we have supported children with many additional and complex needs.  We source our training from hospitals and parents to ensure we are equipped to support any child that attends our setting. We have extensive knowledge and are willing to add to this to ensure children can access early years education. 


Minster Playgroup

Special Needs Support

  • Our Practitioners would identify through observations and assessments where a child may need additional support.
  • Our setting, SENDCO together parents/carers and their keyperson will put in strategies to support the child's progress. 
  • We welcome outside agencies into our setting to work with us to support the child. 
  • Online learning journey (Tapestry).
  • Informal chats at drop off and pick up times. 
  • Telephone conversations.
  • Regular catch up meetings.
  • Involvement in the targeted and personalised plans.
  • Facebook/social media.
  • Parents evening/afternoons.
  • Targeted and personalised planning with input from outside agencies eg SALT, STLS.
  • Adaption to the environment if possible.

  • Senco/Keyperson to ensure that strategies from outside agencies are included in personalised support.
  • Communication in Print symbols are used on staff keyrings and on individual timetables.

We welcome constructive and critical feedback to inform our practice.  In the first instance, please speak to the Manager about your concerns/complaint, if you wish to esculate it to a formal complaint, we have a complaints policy for you to follow.  All concerns/complaints will be in confidence and taken seriously.  You should expect a response to any concern/complaint within a reasonable time.
