Tuition Extra is a Kent-based education service that provides 1-to-1 tuition and therapeutic support for children and young people with SEMH needs in and out of mainstream schooling. We work across Kent in students' homes, in schools, and at our Canterbury Centre and Farm. We work across Kent to provide convenient and accessible tutoring options for our students.
Our approach to learning is structured and helps to improve children's core skills and build confidence. Every individual receives a tailored tuition and therapeutic plan, which is designed to include their passions. and meet their specific needs.
We offer a wide range of academic and vocational subject areas and have an in-house exam centre that allows young people to achieve real qualifications, building confidence, emotional resilience, and aspirations for the future.
Our services are offered in various locations, including the student's homes, schools, our Canterbury Centre, and our Maypole Farm.
Canterbury Centre
Tuition Extra's Canterbury Centre offers a variety of learning spaces for learning, including several rooms for 1-to-1 tuition, a sensory room, a dedicated art space, a hair and beauty salon, a recording studio, a catering suite, and a carpentry workshop.
Maypole Farm
Our Maypole Farm, located in Hoath, is designed to support individuals with attachment disorders and those experiencing emotionally-based school avoidance (EBSA) or anxiety-related absence. The farm is home to a range of animals, providing hands-on learning opportunities and animal-assisted therapy.
Ancient Woodland
Our Ancient Woodland, based in Swale, offers 1-to-1 forest school sessions in a natural setting, which helps to improve children's core skills and build confidence, while also providing a unique and engaging learning environment.
Home Learning
Tuition Extra provides 1-to-1 tuition in various settings to best meet the needs of each student. Our tutors are trained to work in the student's homes, community spaces, and schools to provide the most convenient and effective learning environment.
In-home tutoring allows the student to feel comfortable and familiar with their surroundings while receiving instruction and support.
Schools & Alternative Settings
Tutoring in alternative settings and schools can provide a more structured and social environment for students who may need additional support in these settings.
Online
Our tutors are also available for online sessions when needed, which can provide flexibility for students who may have difficulty attending in-person sessions. This allows the student to receive tuition and support remotely if they are more comfortable with online learning.
