Special Needs Support

When your child first starts at my setting I will ask you to fill out an all about me form to enable me to gain good knowledge of where your child is developmentally.

I will also make my own assessments in the first weeks to find their starting points through a document called Development Matters.

A progress check will be completed at 2 years old and any developmental concerns will be discussed and next steps identified.  This might mean extra support given in certain areas.

Positive relationships are built with your child and you for discussions to be able to happen about any concerns you or I may have.

Daily informal contact info will be shared via whatsapp.

Opportunities for meetings.

The EYFS is an educational framework that enables me to plan for each child individually tailored for their own unique needs.

As I am a small setting I am able to offer more structured learning in any areas of concern for example communication and interaction.

If your child is making insufficient progress  I may discuss with you the need to refer to other services, such as speech and language therapy.

Through daily observations on your child I will be able monitor their progress.

Regular updates are shared and any concerns can be raised.

Any planned activities will be adapted to meet your child's needs and any outings would be risk assessed.

Not accessible for wheelchairs although whenever possible reasonable adjustments will be made.

When your child is about to start school I help them transition by planning school ready activities such as reading books on schools, offering dressing up school uniforms, helping them to put on their own shoes coats etc.

Self evaluation and parent feed back

By contacting me about considering a space at my seting we can begin to arrange settling in sessions at your own pace.

I have a complaints procedure and policy available on request.
