Local Offer

Special Needs Support

Whilst working with a family they may inform us that their child has additional needs and the setting will work closely with the family to put in an action plan to allow the child to meet their full potential whilst in the setting.

On adminssion we ask you to complete an "all about me " form which gives us the information to know about your child's strenghts or areas where they need extra support.  We like to know about your child's interests at home so that we can build this into the activities that we are planning.

When they start we complete a base line assessment which creates their starting points and then we build on this through to the end of year R at school.

With in the setting we have two SENCO trained members of staff that will work with you and your child to co-ordinate teaching, planning and extra support that is needed.

With in the setting staff will complete relevant training,

review progress

complete observations

Follow the Sen Approach

make any referrals to appropriate professionals with consent

attend (were possible) local agency meetings

With in our setting we work closely with the children and get to know them well.  We will identify their interests and learning needs and style and we would look at different ways to modify the setting for their needs and use planning to support their individual learning needs.

We would work very closely with the family and keep everyone well informed of the achievements and planning to stretch their learning.  We would keep learning journeys, progress reports and term reports that would be available for everyone to read.

We would be available to talk to daily and be able to have one to one meetings to work in partnership to create the best early learning journey for your child.

The setting works with the document The EYFS which allows the setting to celebrate the achievements of the child and use the guidance to plan next steps and learning goals. This creates a "unique child" journal.  We are able to review this document to identify where your child is with in the learning outcomes.

The area's of learning are

Communication and language

Personal, social and emotional development

Physical Development

Literacy

mathematical

understanding of the world

expressive arts and design.

We would look closely at these areas and make observations and assessments to create next steps to expand their learning and identify strengths and learning gaps.

Within the setting we are always looking at the setting and reviewing resources to provide a wide range of learning and engagement.  We will provide new resources to support children's development at all levels.

We will work closely with the parent and child to identify area's of learning and resources that are changing as the child develops and provide the equipment that is needed.

We use the best practise document to support our teaching and several members of staff of been on training to support children with additional needs.

If the setting identifies or you approach us with your concerns regarding the child progress through a target plan and next steps we see little progress the setting may gain consent to refer to local outside agencies such as speech and language.

If a plan is inplace and your chuld is recieving support form another agency we will work closely with them.

My starting with the all about me and baseline assessment the setting will have a clear understanding of were the child sits with in the EYFS when they start.

The setting uses tools

EYFS progress tracker

next steps

individual learning logs,

acheivement trackers

learning journals

whilst we are adding observations we will mark of achievement dates we can then see the progress your child is making.

All these documents are available to you 24 hours a day on the online program we use.

We will have a two way communication and you will be able to talk to us at any time regarding any of the above documents.  You are able to add observations onto the system to support the journey through the EYFS.

Most importantly a very good understanding and strong bond with your child helps us support learning and sharing information about their achievements.

We offer and inclusive practice that enables all children to be included in every thing we do.  We are able to review the activity and adapt it to add different things to allow your child to join in.

The setting has two steps into it and one to gain access to the back garden this is able to be managed for the children to gain access.  Unfortunately we only have one toilet upstairs and this is not accessible for children in wheel chairs.

Where possible we could carry smaller children up stairs to the toilet however older children would not have toilet facilities.

When your child is ready to move onto their next adventure we would provide all paper work and EYFS documents to the setting ( with permission) for them to gain an understanding of your child and the stages they are at.

We would work closely with the setting and if needed attend a meeting to provide a full hand over of information.

For a period of time on cross over we could work with the new setting

The setting is always looking at ways to improve the service we offer and we are committed to attending any training that will support the setting and child that attend.

We are always improving our knowledge and using parents knowledge of their child to provide the best outcome for every child that attends our setting.

I am an Ofsted Outstanding Childminder and my procedures have been reviewed and graded as outstanding by them

Angela Smith

The system that I use allows parents to pay an active part of their child's learning and there are several ways you can contact me on there.  You can also text, call, email or write any information to me.

The setting has a complaint policy to follow and a form will be provided to you to make a complaint to the setting.
