Beyond the Clinic Room - Animal Assisted Clinical Psychology

Beyond the Clinic Room is an Animal Assisted Therapies service, from a qualified and regulated Clinical Psychologist.

We know how powerful therapy is, and also know how animals can help us feel safer to open up about our emotional wellbeing and mental health. Beyond the Clinic Room offers Equine and Canine Assisted Psychological Therapies, combining the therapeutic power of animals, in nature, with the high level of knowledge and experience of a Clinical Psychologist.  At the heart of our approach is building safe relationships and trauma informed care, for both our clients and animals. We have particular experience in working with looked after young people, developmental trauma, and in assessment and intervention for adolescents who have struggled to engage in therapy.

In partnership with a horse, we take things at your pace, to explore things when you are ready, using ground based Equine Assisted Psychotherapy models, alongside adapted Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).  Sessions can also be facilitated with our trained therapy dog.

We are based in a beautiful, rural setting in the countryside on the outskirts of Faversham, Kent (close by to Whitstable and Canterbury), and have a flexible therapy space that can facilitate indoor and outdoor therapy.
