I am an Ofsted Registered Childminder. I live in the quiet village of Kingsdown and live with my husband and two daughters. I am within short walking distance to the beach, the woods, play park and the local school. I have years of experience working with children of all ages and in various settings. I love being outdoors and will take every opportunity (weather permitting) to be outside. I do drive so we can visit other places further afield, for example castles, the zoo, soft play centres, other beaches/play parks.
I provide a home-away-from-home experience to allow your child to feel happy and safe in a comforting and inclusive environment. I enjoy working closely with parents/guardians to ensure continuity of routine as much as possible.
As per the current EYFS (and the changes to EYFS in September 2021) I have a range of toys and activities for children of all ages to play with and explore to help enhance learning and development. I have a large area downstairs for children to play in and quite a big garden with equipment and toys for children of all ages.
I trained as an ICT Secondary School teacher and taught for 9 years. I setup the Rewards Scheme within that school and assisted colleagues and children on the Duke of Edinburgh Award, Year 10 camping trips, Norfolk Broads trips and various other outings. I left my teaching position after having our first daughter so that I could be a full-time Mum. When my daughter started at the local Pre-School I volunteered as a committee member and then worked there as a practitioner. We had our second daughter and again I wanted to spend time with her. I recently worked in a local village Primary School as a 1:1 Teaching Assistant in a Reception class. The various age ranges and settings have given me extensive experience to help me to develop my knowledge in working with children, improving my own confidence and making positive relationships with parents/carers.
