Cobtree Playschool For Special Children


Cobtree Playschool supports children with learning difficulties, additional needs or disabilities. Many of our children will have a complex developmental or medical need, will be autistic or have difficulties in their communication and social interactions. Our vision is to make a positive difference, enabling and empowering the children in our care to reach their true potential, by providing the best possible start for them.

We provide a high level of adult support with our expereinced staff and team of volunteers with the children having1;1 care as approapriate. Each child will have a personilised plan to ensure that they personal care needs are met.

We cater for addtional needs children within our local communitiy

we provide a high ratio of child to adult support with one to one care as appropriate

all children are supported by a personalised plan

we are able to provide Physiotherpy support with staff, equipment and resources and work closely with the children's therapy support network

Maidstone Mencap Charitable Trust also provide clubs to support Juniors on a saturday morning 10 -12 during term time for children 4.5 to 16+, youth clubs for young adults 16+ and a holiday club during the summer, supporting families within our community with children with learning diffculties and or addtional needs or disabilities.

As a setting, our registers are currently supporting children with a special educational need and/or disability.

All children will have a detailed personlised plan from their commencement with us, detailing the support and strategies implemented to meet their individual needs working towards targeted outcomes.

We supprt families through the EHCP application process as appropriate.

Description

Maidstone Mencap Charitable Trust provide provision for those 0-25 through our Playschool, junior and youth clubs with additional support given during the summer holidays. We support those with learning difficulties, additional needs and disabilities.

Our Junior Youth and Holiday Clubs and supported by grants from the disabled commisioning service.

Cobtree Playschool is fully support by Maidstone Mencap Charitable Trust

We are a small setting supporting those with learning difficulties, additional needs or disabilities.

We are able to support children at a personalised level providing 1;1 care as appropriate to ensure their individual needs are fully meet. we work closely with parents to take the small steps needed towards their planned outcomes, reinforcing any therapy guidelines.

We request support from Speech and language therapy, occupational and physiotherapy and specialist teaching to enhance our programmes of care for the children to ensure that they have the best support and care in place for them to reach their true potential.

Families are supported through the application process for educational and health care plans

We have personalised plans written by the playschool manager, with the children having support and guidance from their key person and 1;1 carers. activities and resources are planned each session supporting the children in their early developmental goals. These are shared with families to reinforce strategies and techniques in the setting and home environment. planning is regularly reviewed to reflect on the childrens progress and celebrate their achievements

The individual needs of the children their likes interests and individual needs informs our practices.

we celebrate the small steps needed towards targeted outcomes in their personalised planning.

Each child has a personalised planned routine for their session. we are consistent in the strategies and techniques used to support their individual learning and developmental goals

As a whole setting for example we have a multi sensory approach to communication with signing symbols visuals and communication boards as a baseline to support verbal interactions

We have small key groups taking into account what the children can do, with routines and teaching planning supporting each group

We have a sensory room. equipment and space to support children in managing/ self regulating their sensory input /needs.

Any techniques and strategies introduced are shared with the child's family,with key staff chatting and available to them daily to speak with.

We have hoisting and appropriate changing facilities for those needing additional support and personal care needs are supported with the consistency key staff

Staff have comprehensive training to support epilepsy and the administration of emergency medications.

We have a multi sensory approach to communication

We have a key person appraoch who supports the planning guidance from our manager and the childrens therpay support network. 

Our building is fully accessible by those with mobility difficulties with Private car parking and ramps to the building. key area for the learning environment are on one level including access to the sensory room and garden. they is a lift to use the upstairs hall if appropriate / risk assessed

We have portable hoisting, and ceiling hoisting in an allocate large changing room to meet needs of those in wheelchairs or with mobility difficulties.

Children and their families are fully supported with educational and health care plans 

Personalised planning is shared with families to review the childrens progress and celebrate their achievements.

Each child will have a unique story with photos to clearly show the steps their are making towards their learning and developmental goals

Being a small setting and having a key person approach the children and their families quickly develop trusting relationships and a secure knowledge of the individual children and their individual needs to recognise the achievements are making, and challenge them towards their next goals.

 

We have detailed policies and procedures for safeguarding and concerns and complaints available from the office.

 

Please speak directly with the manager/designated safeguarding lead. All concerns are taken seriously and will be responded to.
