Special Needs Support

We use Best Practise Guidance to ensure a good environment for all children. By using this document and observing our children, we can then discuss with parents any areas of support needed and make referrals to outside agencies if needed

The setting SENCO and the child's key person will fully monitor and then liaise with parents to ensure that progress is made. Outside Agencies will be used to support this at all times.

By using a graduated approach starting from using the Best Practise Guidance, activities and routines will be adjusted/differentiated to make the setting inclusive for all.

Any specific strategies/plans that are put in place, will be discussed with parents to ensure continuity of learning at home and school.

Any children with SEND or additional needs may have augmented support to aid their development. This will be determined by S.T.L.S Support.

By regular observations and monitoring the tracking of the child's development. SENCO will regularly liaise with parents and key people to set up individual plans to support the learning. Regular meetings to discuss with parents.

Children with any additional needs or SEND are fully included. Discussions with parents take place to ensure all needs are met and activities are differentiated to ensure inclusion. Any offsite trips would be discussed with parents to decide on support needed.

We have disabled access toilet facilities. Door widths are wide enough for wheelchair access and we are all on one level. Additional funding can be applied for if more specialist support/equipment is needed.

All transitions, from room changes to school changes, are supported by any documentation about the child’s developmental level being shared with the new school. We also have transition meetings if a more in-depth knowledge needs passing on. Primary School teachers are welcomed in to see the children that will be moving to them.

We have qualified SENCO staff to co-ordinate the provisions for SEND children. Outside agencies are used to support as well and regular meetings are held with parents to ensure everyone is involved in any decisions

Contact Karen/Sally to arrange a visit to the Nursery and discuss availability. Complete an enrolment form.

Staff are always available to speak to parents and appointments can be made.

We hold Parents Evenings 3 times a year to give an opportunity for parents to review the learning. Feedback forms are offered at this time and we always have comment slips available for suggestions at all times.
