Local Offer

Special Needs Support

On admission, I ask you for information about your child - their strengths, areas where you feel they may need additional support, and their interests at home to incorporate these into my planning and the activities we undertake, so that each child learns and develops in a way which is unique and personal to them.

Your child's development is continually assessed with documents such as Progress Checks and Development Matters.  These documents help us to identify and discuss any appropriate next steps i.e. planning for additional opportunities for your child which target a specific area of development.  These steps will be documented and shared with you, to ensure you are happy and comfortable.

I am open and willing to work closely with other settings, schools and specialists, to ensure that your child's needs are met.

  • I am available for daily informal contact
  • I can arrange a sit down discussion with you should it be required
  • Your child's learning diary, which is filled with observations and photos is available for you to browse - this details your childs development within my setting
  • I will work in collaboration with yourselves on any and all further planning we put in to place

The EYFS is a statutory framework which allows me to plan for you unique child.  They areas I can expand on are:

  • Communication and Language - this can be adapted to suit the current needs of individual children
  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development - this can be adapted with the aid of local specialist provision
  • Physical Development - I offer an accessible environment which can be adapted, I am aware of environmental factors that may impact children, I provide frequent and regular access to outdoor spaces, and can work with you on special dietary requirements.

As a childminder, I am in a good position to ensure that my activities are tailored to the needs of the children in my care, and that each childs has the potential for greatest learning and development, as well as continuing with their home from home routines.

I have a continuous professional development account, and I will undertake all courses relevant to the children and families in my care.

Each childs progress will be documented in their learning journals, and your childs learning journal is available for you to look through.  We can also have an informal talk as little or often as you like.

We take trips to the beach, and parks, I regularly revise my Health and Safety Risk Assessment to take account of any new conditions or considerations.

I am fortunate enough to have off road parking and my premises is adapted to be wheelchair friendly.

I am happy to attend transition events with your child, should these occur during our sessions if this would be useful to you, and can provide themed activities such as stories about change i.e. starting school or for other life events such as becoming a brother or sister.

I review my Policies and Procedures and update these to ensure they remain relevant.

Feel free to contact me

I have an open door policy for positive comments and welcome constructive criticism, as these may highlight areas that could positively benefit my setting.

I also appreciate any concerns or complaints being brought to my attention, so that we can work together to constructively resolve the issue which could be as simple as removing tactile experiences that distress a child.

"We adore Anne! Our son has speech and language difficulties and wouldn't talk or interact, and we'd had to pull him out of nursery because he was too self-conscious to be in a crowd.  Since being placed with Ann, he has blossomed into a child who will talk non-stop about dinosaurs, and loves attending Anne's setting excitedly waiting to see what dinosaur themed activities await him!"

"My daughter loves her "Nannie Anne" and I love that it really is a home from home setting - we're treated like family.  The only problem I find that I have is that Y***** never wants to come home!"
