Special Needs Support
How does the setting identify children with additional needs or SEND?
When your child starts I ask you to complete an 'all about me' form, this gives me the opportunity to identify children with additional needs or SEND.
How will I be informed / consulted about the ways in which my child is being supported?
On drop off and collection i will talk to you and inform of your childs daily routine, any WOW moments will be recorded on my baby days system, you will have access to this and be able to communicate to me, it also shows any photos taken during the day.
How will the setting adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for my child's needs?
The EYFS is an educational framework which allows me to plan for your child within the 7 specified areas.
What teaching strategies does the setting use for children with additional needs or learning difficulties?
I will adapt my setting to ensure that your child receives the best learning and teaching for their needs.
What additional support does the setting provide for children with additional needs or SEND?
I will keep all training up to date and do extra training for your childs needs, I will work with other professionals that may be involved in your childs needs.
How will the setting monitor my child's progress and how will I be involved in this?
I use the baby days system on which your childs progress will be monitored daily, you will have a personal log in and be able to view, photos and progress, you will have the opportunity to comment and give feedback.
How do you ensure children with additional needs or SEND can be included in the same activities as other children, including trips?
All activities and trips will be planned and adapted to meet your childs needs.
How accessible is the building for children with mobility difficulties / wheelchair users?
Unfortunately my setting is not wheelchair friendly.
How will you support my child's transition to a new setting or school?
I communicate with the new school/setting, I will pass on progress tracker reports generated through the baby days system.
How does the setting assess the overall effectiveness of its SEN provision and how can parents / carers take part in this evaluation?
I regularly evaluated and assess my setting, i also ask parents to complete a questionnaire to help me with this.
Who should I contact if I am considering registering for a place at the setting?
You should contact myself to register a place in my setting,we can then discuss you and your childs needs, settling in days will discussed during this time.
What arrangements does the setting have for feedback from parents / carers, including compliments and complaints?
I use the baby days system which gives you the opportunity to give feedback, I recently sent a photo to a parent and they commented on how happy their child looked, they stated how happy they were with the varied activities and trips we do.
